Shockwave.com does this with many of their online games..
Inklink - which is a muliplayer Pictionary type game stops for 'a word from our sponsors' 5 - 10 second ads in between rounds and sometimes in between player turns.
Your approach of quoting something out of context to try to generate some sort of sarcastic editorial is very tiresome.
... compared to the selection when PS2 was released (no-one bought a PS2 for the PS1 games)
I believe we are talking about titles created FOR the system in question. PS1 games were not created for the PS2. I don't think many people rushed out to spend $400 on a PS2 system so they could play their old PS1 games.
So the fact remains that PS2 games selection at launch was weak at best. On the other hand we know Microsoft has made a big effort to get developers to embrace the XBOX. For the most part feedback from these developers has been very positive.
Microsoft doesn't need to show a single playable demo yet because they do not need to prove that the hardware is good. The specs speak for themselves.
To sum it up, I believe at XBOX launch time we will have many games to choose from (many more than the selection we had at PS2 launch) and this is why store owners are pushing the system months in advance.
you buy the system to play games.. the ps2 itself isn't 'so horrible' and the games that are good are not so 'horrible' but if I pay $400 for a game system I would really like to have more than a weeks worth of 'great' games..
Even though the XBOX will be backwards compatible with nothing when it is released there will be a much bigger selection of games to choose from compared to the selection when PS2 was released (no-one bought a PS2 for the PS1 games).
Even now, months after the US PS2 launch there are not that many 'GREAT' PS2 games that show off what it is capable of doing.
With regards to the letter, store owners understand that unless your a Pokemon fan you ain't going to go near the Gamecube.. PS2 has been a dissapointment so far.. everything else is 5 years old now.. so you might as well wait.
This is a loosing battle Recording a persons keystroke pattern and inserting it into a downloaded music file will only increase the popularity of MP3. On top of this - how long will it take for 'Keystroke Pattern Eliminator' software to spread like wildfire through Gnutella? Most multimedia formats that impose listening and/or viewing restrictions end up failing (DivX).. You can block a stream.. dam a river.. but what do you do with an ocean? - Jump In.

I wonder if any of the $ Warner makes from this (Hundreds of Millions?) will go back to the artists or if they will just keep it for themselves.
