  1. There are choices on Pentium 4 Requires New Case And Power Supply · · Score: 1

Just because Intel is changing something, does not mean that the whole industry will. We will need to keep our eyes out for AMD and others. Of course, Intel has made mistakes before this could be another one. Just because they are an industry leader does not mean that this won't be the next Pinto or Gremlin or something.

  2. Re:Isn't what he did... on Happy Independence Day, Jose · · Score: 1

"You know, when the Americans came in Normandy in June 44 and destroyed the german buildings, they were also considered as vandals and terrorists by the Germans..."

That makes a little sense, except for the fact that the situation was a war. Let us not forget that this war resulted in the murder of innocents based on their religion. We are not talking about the simple protest of some megacompany.

"Sometimes, you have to break the law to protest and resist. Jose Bove knew he was breaking the law, and didn't substract to justice. The goal, in fact was to provoke a trial and get the media attention."

Agreed. He is a political agitator. He got the media attention he wanted. If you (were an American beef person) and did the same thing in America (bulldozing a French restaurant)to protest the banning in genetically altered beef in France, you would still be a criminal. The act is criminal. The motive political.

  3. Imagine.... on Boies: Music Industry Could Lose Copyright · · Score: 1

Imagine a world without the RIAA. Artists could release music straight to the net. CDs, Tapes, etc. could be obsolete. People would just download the music. Completely possible. That would eliminate a lot of the music industry, right? So the RIAA is just protecting themselves (No, I am not pro-RIAA, just a devil's advocate). Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the profit margins are for tapes and CDs? The only people that should be profitting are the musicians, but there are so many layers between the musicians and the consumers and everyone has to have their profits...

  4. Re:Hmmm - I reckon we want a server on Answers From Sealand: CTO Ryan Lackey Responds · · Score: 1

Not to instigate anything, but how do we decide on what gets posted? I agree about the DeCSS. But what about people looking for someone to just download copies of "warez"? So, when is /. signing up?

  5. Re:If you extend the situation ... on Failed Dot-Coms Selling Private Info · · Score: 1

Ummmm, then if you signed your application to the bank and the application said that they would NOT sell your information, then they could be in violation of privacy laws. Otherwise, yes they sell your information to anyone who will by it.
