Yes our drinking water comes from Lake Michigan and northwest Indiana is where all the oil and steel refineries who have been heavily polluting the lake beyond recovery for years. Chicago is very close and less than an hour a way. This will certainly wreck the fishing, tourism, and health for millions of people.
I was thinking of going on vacation to great dunes national park in Indiana next summer which has great beaches on the lake. Now I think I will pass as I doubt anything will be left alive over there or least I do not want to swim in it. This pisses me off and I hope Chicago goes without water for a few months as they try to find a different source of drinking water just to make enough people outraged at whats going on. Why is this legal?
I think he is referring to RAD tools for desktop driven database apps or something. Or perhaps writing quick and dirty intranet apps. Writing gui code by hand before Java and.net/vb was painful with C++ on windows or X.
A pentium runs windows98 and NT 4 just fine. Typically those who don't upgrade hardware wont upgrade software either.
My father's windows98 pentiumII keeps running like an old japanese car with everyone else broke like both cdroms, the sound card, etc. He runs firefox and it will run forever until it breaks before he buys a new system.
BTW I have only seen 1 system of mine fail for hardware reasons. The rest I broke myself:-)
I build my own systems and never buy Dell, Sony, or Emachine units that are known to break. These systems can work for years without an issue. I have a compaq pressario notebook and after Carly Fiona left HP, the quality has gone up as well for their products.
Reagan freed the hostages the first day in office and scored a 90% approval rating that lasted very long into his presidency. Why couldn't Carter do this?
The russians did when they overthrew communism. However Boris Yelsin had some connections in the military and become a little greedy after taking power which gave way to Puttin today which is forming into yet another dictatorship.
milions out of how much billions in revenue you receive?
Drugs are not like appliances that require a large manufactoring cost but little research to be competitive like most products. Your research is your product! Its all research based as manufactoring costs are quite low considering what your employer charges.
If you are only spending millions yet make 90 billion in income then I smell major price gouging.
I believe in the power of the free market. However there are oligopolies in both the healtchare and pharmacutical companies which hinder it. It would not surprise me if they had profit sharing agreements of promoting a particular drug over another either from what I have seen with Kaiser.
The bean counters and those who are greedy will suck any system both private or public unless there is competitive pressures to rid them.
Your \opinion might change if your mother ends up like this.
They were just doing their job which is the HMO or government told staff to tell the patient her symptoms were caused by X which was not true but was cheaper.
The nazi's were just doing their jobs too and obeying Hitler. So is the mobfia when they burn a business to the ground and beat the owner almost to death because he didn't them their tax. Why do you draw the line?
I have not had healthcare for years for financial reasons and America still has the best health care system in the world.
I admit I am becoming quite conservative over the last few years and would formally agreed with you.
The problem I see is as of right now if the cost of health care keeps going up by the time 2020 comes along 100% of all taxes will just pay for medicare/medicaid!
Universal health care will break our government and cause it to bankrupt. Also the public sector is quite bad and I have seen Canadian health care first hand. 5 hours waiting to get your teeth clean?? The bean counters and greedy admins are worse in the public sector where they are not accountable. Universal health care would magnify the problem.
America is not alone in the issue of declining health care. We need to bust these small pharmaceutical companies up which hold all the patents and charging obscene rates. Europe too is having skyrocketing Intellectual property rights for standard procedures and drugs owned by a few and the tax payers are being screwed over.
This is more of a problem with countries with free healthcare. Bearocrats and beancounters decide based on cost as well. As someone who has worked in both private and public I can say the public sector is the most cheap as they are not accountable like they are in the free market.
There should be some laws like I mentioned to protect consumers. A simple fingerprint/FBI background check for any transaction would solve this if the banks were not cheap.
My wife is a school teacher and many years ago her exhusband got involved with a friend for a house fixer upper. Anyway the friend backed out and he had to pay for his house. Not smart.
That was 4 years ago and now no one will hire my wife. Its so fustrating but she does great on interviews and say they will call back after a background check and then don't. She was supervisor at home depot before she got her degree and can not even work there for the summer, though she left on good marks and is rehirable. They are afraid she might steal though her credit rating is over 700 now.
Ron Paul does not support open source voting systems and is rather extreme in his views (liberatarian). Edwards may have a change of winning the democratic nomination alot more than Paul has the chance of winning the republican. Besides geeks who are registered democrats may not be able to vote for Ron Paul depending on their state.
So I do not see how this is fragmenting the geek vote. This is only the primaries and it would be nice to see geek friendly candidates on both the left and right.
Its not his content and he does not own it. The RIAA does and they wont sell your product unless you hand them full copyright rights to them.
So in essence they own all his material and yes its illegal and unethical for him to do so.
I guess this comes to show they have a monopoly because no record company will let you own your rights to your own music. This is why the Beetles created their own label.
You already are liable. Either way the bank has better lawyers.
If I steal your identity and buy alot of products the only thing the bank will do is call the FBI. They will still ask for you to phony up. Refuse? Then they will put it on your credit report. Now try getting a job or apartment or home?
Its been ruled in court if someone sells your home you have to leave and the bank is not liable for the loan and you have to pay them. I do not know how but somehow they convinced a jury??
Its quite bad and there need to be laws to protect us from the banks who are cheap and do not want to pay for their own mistakes when making easy loans with minimal verification.
Here in the US someone can sell your home without your consent and you would have to leave.
Yes its a big problem and for some reason the banks have been winning in courts and not paying for things like fraudulant transactions and letting the consumer deal with it.
Its a knee jerk reaction but they should do more things like do FBI bankground checks and fingerprinting for any major transaction over $10,000 or credit card application. I did so to work at the school district and its inconvenient to wait a month for a result but would you want a pedi watching your kids? With identify theft banks need to start doing this.
If the bank is really paranoid over fraudulant transactions then they need to stop having their services online. Phishing schemes are probably causing hte majority of fraud anyway and it has nothing to do with them.
I have never seen an Itanium to date and they are non existent as far as I am concerned.
SGI killed itself by lining themselves with MS and WinNT before the CEO left for Microsoft as a reward. Hmmm
Alpha was killed because Carly Fiona invested a billion into Itanium and dammit she was going to get a return! So buy digital and then kill it. Where is she now?
WIndows Server and Linux killed sun as CEOs and CFOs began crapping their pants during the y2k bug and the.com rise after seeing how much money they were spending in IT. The most expensive systems aka suns/mainframes were the first to go to cut costs. Also linux can do what a sun does for 1/10th the cost?
So Intel gives up on Itanium as it is and goes with x86-64 and we are stuck with 30 year old technology. Sigh
I hope that new VLIW chip Intel has with 80 cores and 1 trillion operations per second becomes popular. Intel might be on to something there.
I couldn't agree with you more.
:-)
AtomicReference and thread synchronization are an absolute essential in any hello world program for freshmen lvl programming classes.
As a former resident of the area I am outraged!

Javadoc is your friend
http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/
Netbeans has a free gui designer just like vs.net where it will autogenerate your java code.
Java is a very strict language and you need strong object oriented knowledge of inheritence to get anything done like write a hello world program.
Carter was pretty bad. Actually I rate him second to Hoover. A 30% inflation mixed with the Iran hostage crises tops this one.
The russians did when they overthrew communism. However Boris Yelsin had some connections in the military and become a little greedy after taking power which gave way to Puttin today which is forming into yet another dictatorship.

No, actually, most hospitals cannot legally turn someone down because they cannot pay.
oh?

Unless they modified the libraries of wine itself and not linked to then it should be ok if its copyleft.
Am I miss-informed? If so what is the difference between the lgpl and the gpl?
There should be some laws like I mentioned to protect consumers. A simple fingerprint/FBI background check for any transaction would solve this if the banks were not cheap.
Especially in retail or financial services.
My wife is a school teacher and many years ago her exhusband got involved with a friend for a house fixer upper. Anyway the friend backed out and he had to pay for his house. Not smart.

Know of anyone else who is as geek friendly?

More than likely you will be banned from online banking because their software wont know what anything but Windows is.
So the least secure OS gets the approval because its what everyone uses.
Here in the US someone can sell your home without your consent and you would have to leave.

A spammer/spyware writter could just rewrite the MBR to load its microcode.
ALso I wonder if its possible to use this to run windows in a virtual machine and not be able to delete the rootkits these spyware makers are making.
Scary indeed.
