Excuse me, but I have to ask if you checked your facts? The company I work for, DVTel, has many many casinos in the USA where we have 100% IP CCTV, and/or a hybrid system, with the remnants of their legacy analog system, and an IP system expanding to fill the space. I am actually traveling next week to commission another IP CCTV video security system in a casino on an Indian Reservation.
I am not a salesman, so I will not talk about our systems, but I will say that there are several companies, all over the world, offering mixed and fully digital CCTV systems.
If you have any questions, please direct them to my personal address.
I just moved from Katrina area to New JErsey, and I'll tell you one of the greatest things for the weeks after was a buddy with a generator and satellite internet. I was VERY busy typing in "I'm ok" emails for my fellow cops to their families who had no! idea if they were alive or dead.
We DNA anyone brought in for a felony, or when their charge is one of several on a special list, like Battery on a Teacher, Anything having to do with Domestic Violence, etc.
We DNA through a Buccal Swab (Cheek cell swab with a big Q-tip). If and when someone is convicted, they are DNA'ed again, with a blood sample.
The database is never purged, and once in, you are in. Period.
Do I agree? I take these samples, and when they trained us, we swabbed each other. I made damn sure my swabs went in the garbage. Let's leave it at that.
IAA Cop, and work at a jail. When people call, we give them the name, charges, bonds, of whoever they ask about. Why? Well, if Joe Blow is arrested, Joe's mom might call to bond him out, Joe's girlfriend (no legal relationship) might call, a bondsmen (never met Joe before) might call. His buddy might call. His long lost dad might call. You get the idea. How do we know who you WANT us to tell, and who you don't? We want people to bond out. We don't have space to hold them all. The more of your people that have the info, the better shot you have of havinmg someone bond you out.
Besides, once you're booked (first step upon entering jail), you have 24/7 access to a phone in holding. You can call and tell Mom, girlfriend, whomever. We have no legal responsibility to inform your parents/guardians, etc. Now, remember, we (my jail) doesn't deal with juveniles. Everybody who walks in is an adult, responsible for him/her self. en
I live in Slidell. I intend to find this guy, and politely interview him for the Slashdot crowd. Would this be a help, and if so, what questions would everybody have?
Whether Wally is or is not a NASA senior/junior/nobody/somebody, at this point doesn't matter. There are many ways to get an idea across, even a vehement idea, without resorting to the ridiculous amount of cursing and plain old nastiness that you have spewed here.
NASA is one of the most autonomous government agencies there are, answerable to the government for only funding and results. Does this mean they don't follow the rules? No. Does this mean they can feel free to test things, such as Niche OS'. Perhaps. I am not going to rule it out, and your posts lose much credibility with your attitude.
feel free to reply to me offline.
