i do, it looks "web based". like that active desktop crap. i would much rather have functionality deliverd. i'd like to be able to maximize a window only vertically or only horizontally. i'd like to have two web browsers side by side (moz each with a few tabs on them), both maximized from bottom to top, but with an inch on either side. makes easy swapping between them. i'd like to be able to dock a window (cmd) to one side. i'd like to be able to have multiple desktops and send the stuff that i need up but don't use much to another desktop. i wanna be able to save my desktop on logout so it's there again when i login.
i don't want flowers and butterflies eating up my valuable screen space as i'm trying to get some work done while i browse these/. articles! i don't want to be presented with a desktop that isn't ready for use yet. don't be a freaking tease and show me a desktop that's useless while the system tray is loading it's 10 applications. load the desktop and all needed apps, THEN show me my work space.
boy do i wish i had a kde desktop here at work (no cygwin/kde isn't useable for productive work, it's a nice toy to see it work, but it's not productive).
i wouldn't really say _won_, but that's a different issue.
i think there were other factors than looks/personality in that race. one was the slightly tarnished democratic presidential image. another might be $$ spent on the campaigns. i don't know who spent more, but i'm guessing that bush sunk a bundle into the campaign.
ohio... columbus specifically. maybe for some rings of folks that's a trouble, but for most it's not. those "hard" drugs are the ones that will kill the people that use it. yeah, it's cold, it's maybe slightly inhumaine, but i say let a few couple 1000 of the users die quickly once it's legalized and see what happens to their user base. even if it doesn't kill them, they're better off wasting away and paying a little in taxes than they are today living under the law. if it were legalized, those mines would be a thing of the past, and killing people over the crank isn't going to be more common, but rather less common i say.
Additionally law enforcement would save tons of money becuase no more marijuana related crime (i.e. sale/possesion) would have to be dealt with.
it basically would put an intire industry out of commission (the entire War On Drugs). yes, it would mean more money to be spent on more meaningfull crimes, but i'd imagine these folks are going to try _really_ hard to save their jobs.
what?!? do you _really_ think that clinton was elected TWICE because of his campaign issues? he was better looking than the opposition and he had charisma to sway the people (smarter and cuter)
have you taken a look lately at a King James Bible? Every company that prints it claims to own copyright to it. I think how it boils down is that the printing companies own the copyright to their particular instance of it, but not the content in general.
i didn't read much about ATT and BSD, and am only vaguely familiar with the BSD suits from years back. did BSD have the massive corporate backing that linux enjoys?
normally you know that going into the effort. and i would guess that there's typically an easy way to get those things installed properly (apt-get, install shield, emerge, rpm, etc, etc). yes, if you're developing a kde/qt app, or a gtk+ app or a wxWindows app your user base will be slightly diminished. if someone wants the app, they'll get it. hell, the postgresql has a database management utility that's based on the wxWindows toolkit and has a nice and easy windows installer.
are you trolling or some such? every application that uses libraries needs those libraries to run. this is more a bad statement about use of libraries in general than anything to do with window toolkits.
it might make their customers bitch a little up the ladder and eventually take some time away from the litigation. it's basically giving a blow in the gut any way you can.
and languages like java are extremely portable. maybe those other languages you mention are too, but really , i've never seen a single line of code in a production system. with the two big application frameworks for java out there (netBeans and eclipse), this would make a perfect platform for a GnuCash system. Though, you might want to make it cplCash or sclCash. Then you can always extend the product and sell a "professional" version. Give the home user a free version with a community message board and mailing lists, and irc channels. Give the businesses who shell out some cash 24 hour support and enterprise features. strange model that one is;)
i suppose i could have had a little more sleep on the weekend. fuck, man. a few misspellings and that completely turns you off on the point of the post, eh? the government doesn't have the right to regulate this shit.
at age 13, they're both accessable. bedides, itdoesn't really matter, and is a mute point. society doesn't have the right to regluate this personal freedom (chemical induction).
um, i dunno... offspring, carpet crawlers, daycare, dora the explorer, the turn of the century, diapers, bottles, expensive formula, early morning visits to the emergency room for a slight fever, temper tantrums, etc. commonly referred to as parenthood, and you're missing quite a bit!
that does sound interesting, and certainly would gartner another couple of massive/. story fills.
if OSDN weren't so far in the red, one could question if OSDN itself weren't funding SCO to keep dragging this thing out. certainly these/. stories are keeping the # of postings up, and getting the ad impressions, and possibly as sales too.
considering that VA software has a current market cap ~= SCO market cap, i can see why SCO has it's panties in an uproar.
SCO has publicly admitted that the 2.2 kernel series is not corrupted by the IBM contract breach.
SCO has not explicitly stated which files/modules breach this contract (in their view) in order to allow the linux developers to rewrite that prortion. SCO would certainly prefer the kernel to be tainted (in their view) for as long as possible.
it's a good thing the HURD is almost ready for production systems.:)
SCO: "you broke our contract, give us a bag full of cash, lots of bags full o' cash" IBM: "you're freaking nuts, enjoy your stock inflation while it lasts, now get the hell outta my face, i've got products to sell! Slashdot Crowd: hahahahaha!!! roflmmfao!!! hahahahah! rolfmmfao!!!
yeah, it's just that they're collecting dust and taking up space in the basement along with the vcr tapes, the cassette tapes, and what not. my only current use for a regular cd is in the car where it doesn't have an mp3 player. so, it really is easier to go online and grab the song than to go into the basement and unpile off the 8 other boxes off the cd box and find the cd you want only to find a few scratches on the disk.
well, the record company still sees the revenue on the cd you buy at the 2nd hand store. their issue is that they only see the revenue once and not three times and more.

considering how long we've been stuck on this damn i386 chipset (32bit processor), i very much doubt we'll see any such 128 cpu anytime soon.

he'll be in even worse straits in the J2EE world.
i've always wondered why most companies don't throw a few college grads with a few VB and sql class under their belt twords a J2EE project.

no start button, no, but... it would be really usefull if it would bind the "windows" key on the keyboard automatically to the "K" button on kde.
don't any of you guys own CDs anymore?
