  1. I have this working with Replay TV on TiVo-Like Devices for Radio? · · Score: 2, Interesting

I have a sony digital fm receiver that takes direct tuning commands from a universal remote that you can program with timer options.

I set the universal remote (AllInOne Producer)to tune the receiver to 104.1 to record a talk show at 10:00 AM. The remote sends powering-1-0-4-1 to the receiver at 10am.

It sends a simple power off command at 3:00 pm.

I have my ReplayTV set up to record channel 813 (on of the Music Choice Channels on DTV) for the same interval.

The replay records the video signal from the DTV tuner (a screen-saver) and the audio signal from the tape outs of the receiver.

I use a scheduled task in DVarchive to unload it from the ReplayTV unit to my pc via my home network, and listen to it on my pc using the real player.

  3. The Cinamas Have the Power still on Will Digital Cinema Wipe-Out Today's Movie Theaters? · · Score: 2, Interesting

George Lucus originally said AotC would only go to digital equiped houses, but only 19 were ready for the digital copy (I saw it at the one here in Orlando). I guess the thought of threating them with not having Star Wars unless they were digital, did not make all 3500 theatres go spend the 140k for the equipment.

Unless more than 70% of the houses go digital, 35mm will remain.

The studios could buy the projectors for the movies houses so they can get the control they seem to covet.

  4. Just Like TV on Do 'Bandwidth Bullies' Abuse Their Positions? · · Score: 1

Just like television is free, the Internet is free. You have to buy a tv to get the 'free' signal, so you have to buy pc and 'rent' the cable to the Internet, but once you get there, its free. Isn't it?

  5. Direct Sales on The Death Of Intellectual Property · · Score: 1

The artist would make more per disc (4.50 vs 1.00), if they would just realize the record companies have been screwing them for years. They should sign deals with Internet labels, and squeeze the greedy traditional labels out of the loop.
