  1. Re:this sounds a little dangerous on Mozilla.org Releases Protozilla · · Score: 1

There should be no reason to complain about mozilla being bloted, even if it is, as it is off topic. This is an optional plugin, which you can use if you want to, nobody forces you to.

I think it is nice the mozilla team is putting so much effort into improving it for it's users.

    Doh! Just burned 7.1!

Anyway, imho, slackware gets the best of freebsd and linux, combining them into one package. It usees the same packaging system as freebsd and support for rpms. I have used slackware on my system, the only problem I have had was fixing some problems with symbolic links.

More important to me than telnetting to pinball machines (heh...that does sound neat) was the fact that slashdot avoided slashdotting the site!

Could this be the end of slashdotting? Recognising when a site can't take the hits? I would like to send a thank you to the slashdot crew for listening to the readers.

This was a good article, but when I had tried to set up an mp3 server, if I didn't compress the streams, they were very choppy. Unless you have an OC3 or whatever, you need to compress them.

I found a guide here that shows how.

This means nothing but we will reach the physical limit for transistor size sooner than predicted, once we reach that barrier, the only way to increase performance would be to have larger/more CPUs. Shouldn't put more effort into inventing a quantum computer?

  14. Maybe for the better on Microsoft Buys into Corel · · Score: 1

This might be the funding Corel needs to get back going. They won't let microsoft influence them that much, and people shouldn't overexaggerate it. Bestcase: Corel does some stuff for micro$oft and gets money, and now ports .NET apps to linux, and continues making apps and distros with their funding. Worstcase: Microsoft corrupts corel, but corel is too small to make a difference. The real worry here is how much corel will speed up the .NET plan
