What an odd post. You say you are in canada, but then lump yourself in with Americans by saying "we failed to find a reasonable medium".

There is no reasonable medium. There is just fair, and unfair. Stuff should be accessibly for people with disabilities, that's just basic and fair. It isn't fair that businesses foot the bill, but they should be able to claim it back on tax.

What's the issue, and what does society gain by having people not have to cater to people with disabilities?

    Two points.

    1. Subtitles does not need to be encased in quotes. Doing so makes no sense, as any implication is invalid.

    2. What is wrong with you that you need subtitles to understand the English language? I mean, really? Most British shows enunciate stuff pretty damn clearly, and they don't use enough slang to be confusing. Likewise with Aussie stuff.

There are some problems with your argument, although the quote from Sherman is a pretty good point. Mainly, people don't use Paris to describe an emotional state. Not like they do with heaven. They might say something is like being in Paris, but that is still obviously referring to the city in France.

Heaven and Hell are concepts, just as much as they are places described in the Christian bible. When referring to the Christian Heaven/Hell then capitalization is correct. When referring to the abstract idea that happens to share the same names in English as the Christian places, you should not use capitalization.

Hell is where Satan lives, Heaven is where Jesus awaits. heaven is where you get to go after you die if you were good, hell is where you go if you were bad. Concepts, not places.

It's like if there is a burger shop called Burger Shop. That shop should be referred to as Burger Shop, but the idea of a burger shop is fine being referred to as burger shop. OK?

The problem is not scientific literacy, bur that you need to be an expert in several fields.

I consider myself scientifically literate to a basic level and generally have no problem reading studies or extracts to get a basic idea on an issue. The whole climate change thing is impossible though. People make specific claims about carbons, how they bond in the atmosphere, half-lives, tree rings, ice, sea levels...

There is too much stuff being quoted and claimed from both sides, often seemingly backed up.

What we need is a nice, easy summary page, summarizing all the relevant studies so far, and what they imply or mean when it comes to climate page. AN overall summary taking every study into account, giving a good indication, meaning to oppose it is to go against peer reviewed studies or to speculate without a firm basis.

Linus and more so Greg K-H have said so.

Security is not a priority. A security bug should be treated like any other bug. Which is bullshit. A bug that can allow full compromise of your system is obviously more severe than a bug that maybe uses up more memory than it should. Especially with Linux being used in a server role more than anything.

Not to mention the dev team seems somewhat anti-full-disclosure, advocating keeping vulnerabilities secret, or at least not publicly disclosing/admitting them until they decide to/feel like fixing them.

Linux is fine for a desktop, but without some sort of MAC(in which case it would surpass most competing platforms when it comes to security), it's worse than Windows.

I need to know what vulnerabilities are on my system, when they will be fixed, and to know that the developers have security as a priority. Sadly, that describes Microsoft far more than it does Linux.

    Bring on the troll mods.
