Scroll down to the table and see for example a 1 million hour MTBF drive with a real-world annual replacement rate (how many die every year) one-sixth that of a 1.5 million MTBF drive.
"The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work, and then they get elected and prove it." -- P. J. O'Rourke (conservative author)
The crash wouldn't have happened without extensive government interference in the market. Banks didn't take on subprime mortgages until the government and groups like ACORN "persuaded" (extorted, shamed, regulated, etc.) them to do so by various means. Why didn't they take them on? That practice of redlining everybody was complaining about as "unfair" existed for a reason --statistically too much risk in those areas. Banks didn't like people defaulting.
But once they were forced, they invented ways to pass off that high risk and still profit. That snowballed and next thing you know they were clamoring to take on risky mortgages. Oh yes, their greed, and the greed of homeowners who wanted something for nothing, made the crash bad. But the government and groups like ACORN set the ball rolling.
Pun intended. Mean time between failure, it's only the mean, statistics. In the real world, it's quite normal to run drives with over a million hours MTBF and have a couple percent of them fail each year.
MTBF is really only helpful when you're running a bunch of drives and need to calculate projected time and money you'll spend replacing them. It has no real application to one drive's life expectancy.
Usually followed with severe suppression of human rights and mass executions.
You whacked yourself in the head with a hammer thinking it would feel good, but it hurt. How many times more will you do it before you realize it will never feel good, it will always hurt?
Say Arkansas was closer to Kentucky than Illinois?
Think that the same languages are spoken in Iraq and Afghanistan so that translators assigned to Iraq (who speak Arabic or Kurdish) could be effectively reassigned to Afghanistan (where they speak Pashto or Farsi)?
Oh wait, that was Obama.
And don't even get me started on Biden.
I can't stand Palin myself, but she's nowhere near taking the cake on ignorance and gaffes.
Our industrialized society makes large families less important -- in fact kids are a monetary drain. But to non-mechanized farmers as are common in the third world, kids mean more hands working in the field, more likelihood of survival.
Then there's death. A family here with one kid will actually see an improvement in finances if that kid were to die. That farmer family's kid dying means they might not be able to tend the crops and produce enough to eat.
Then by old age if you and your kids haven't each produced lots of kids, there's nobody to take care of you.
The purpose of these bulldozers is not to run over people. In fact, that is why the IDF has troops go with them when possible to make sure they don't run over anybody (but as I said, their job is made difficult due to attacks by the very people they're trying to save from getting run over). The IDF has even installed cameras to try to eliminate the blind spots so drivers can avoid running over people who throw themselves in front of the bulldozers.
But the AC made it out as running over people was in the plan. It clearly isn't.
Just because you have a trademark somewhere doesn't mean you should be able to monopolize a name. Trademark is for a specific good or service in a market to prevent confusion between the goods or services of different companies in the same market.
Trademark is not meant to exclude the name's use in a market not entered by the company. Nobody but the Ford Motor Company can sell cars under the name "Ford," or under that name sell any of the dozens of other goods and services for which Ford has a trademark. But other companies sell things like gum and dietary supplements under the name "Ford."
Gerber is not in the porn market; therefore, Gerber has no exclusive rights to the name in that market. If I want to produce porn, I should be able to register Gerber.xxx. Or if my name is Gerber and I want to register "Gerber's porn reviews" as gerber.xxx I have an even better case.
Missiles aren't considered weapons of mass destruction, and GE got out of the nuclear weapons making business a while ago.
Caterpillar sells special armored bulldozers to Israel because the Palestinians try to kill the drivers who are demolishing terrorist hideouts. People get run over because they run where the driver can't see them (the armor restricts visibility), or the Palestinians are shooting at or otherwise interfering with the the Israeli soldiers whose job is to clear the path of any people.
In other news, AC has no idea WFT he's talking about.

I'm mostly libertarian minded, but I realize that a pure libertarian state in a country our size just wouldn't work.
Pure communism won't work because we're humans, not ants.

The problem is usually corrupt and oppressive governments.
People on their own don't generally live where there's no ability to make food -- they move.
He once said, "Don't you wish instead of those cute little headlights you had twin .50 caliber machine guns?"
Now the headlights themselves become the weapon.
And he learned to identify them.
These days a cochlear implant would probably fix that.
Unless they've managed to keep him alive this long.
Refer to the 57 US states?
Refer to a Navy corpsman as "corpse man"?
Think Sioux Falls SD is in Iowa?

Jobs wasn't at Apple when the Newton was created, and it was one of the first things he killed when he got back.

Every Watt of power drawn by the car's accessories is very important. Look for many more efficient accessories to come on the market.

His business, Nissan, fixed Datsuns.
You have them build them, check out the results, and then you can say "Now you know why solar isn't a panacea for our energy needs."
You think she said she could see Russia from her house in Alaska.

You can't patent the idea of a mousetrap, but you can patent the implementations of new variations on the idea.
That's relatively low for a company with over half a million employees and $67 billion in revenue.
After all, the main gun on an M1 is licensed from the Germans.
You hear the clack of treads, that's about it, the slight whine gets lost in background noise.
Downright stealthy compared to a British Challenger tank.
Actively cooled even. Anything above a few hundred degrees below zero shows bright and clear.
The M1 has a passive system for the driver and an active system for the commander.
