Let's see... snap a picture of a barcode and have the information instantly appear in my phone, or manually type in the information later, double-checking the information to make sure I don't screw it up, and then find a place to throw the card out.

Episodes in a season you've seen will be marked as such. Also, if you start one but don't finish it, it will tell you how much you've seen and give you the option of starting where you left off.
At least on the Xbox 360 and Sony TV clients, I assume the others (that I haven't used) have similar functionality.
Why does a news aggregator need HTTPS?
The comments, I suppose, but the lack of HTTPS never seemed to stop people from saying controversial and/or dumb things.
