off of a usb router, I can plug this card, and my archos jukebox and actually have a digital out line instead of my crappy analog that archos supplies. yippeeeeee
if you really did work for them, then you would probably know that Ransom is spelled Ransom and Benoit is spelled Benoy. You don't have to say you worked for anyone just to legitimize your point.
You're missing the point. He's not saying that users will like thin clients. He's speaking in terms of customizing a solution to fit a NEED. There's a difference. He's heading in the right direction. By customizing solutions, you ARE in fact listening to your users.
I don't like the idea of setting up anything that binds to a particular port, or location for that matter. Its advertising and inviting. I still haven't seen a DDoS monitoring service that I'm convinced is bullet proof, and I still think that we have some work to do. Blocking portscans and such are the wrong way to handle problems and usually end up in DDoS attacks once someone has spoofed their source ip as being that of localhost on your machine or being your machines gateway ip.
There are many services out there that claim to solve one problem, but in essence they are creating problems elsewhere. DDoS being the elsewhere.
I have been a unix user for a little over 6 months, and I am still discovering the advantages of unix over windows. I cannot count the number of times that I have heard windows users say "unix is a cheap version of windows" the people saying this are those that haven't tried unix. a better effort has to be made to HIGHLIGHT the advantages of unix over windows, in order to draw those users. to windows users their perception is 'why do I want to take the time and effort to learn a whole new os that does what windows can do' my answer is that it doesn't! and they say: 'well, it looks like a cheap version of windows'
me: 'enlightenment is not a cheap windows knockoff, its very original' yes, there are some cheapened window managers though. but you have the choice as to whether you want to install them or not. whats that? you don't like windows interface either? too bad!
The bottom line is that there needs to be more quality control in the unix world. with new/updated distributions and window managers being thrown up daily, this leaves a bad image and a lot of broken code in the hands of some good unix distros.
How can you even compare files to drugs? Lets take a step back and look at the BIG picture. "Please stop drawing so much attention to it, and maybe we can avoid a lengthly..." you draw an even greater amount of attention by even comparing file swapping to drugs. drugs kill. file swapping does not.
exactly my point. I don't even know why i'm replying to your comment because you proved my point in your dislexic reasoning. here it is anyways for those of the thinking impaired: if the RIAA lawyer had access to every ip address in the napster database, for example, would it be worth it or cost effective to sue everyone? no? is file sharing illegal?no. so what if they have my ip address. what will the RIAA lawyer do? sue everyone. napster was an easy case because it was centralized. one lawsuit versus a gnutella lawsuits which would end up in the thousands.
gnutella and other file sharing programs cannot be prosecuted, because there is no owner. can they really sue all users of gnutella for file sharing? no. I think it is reasonable to say that people who are into file sharing, namely mp3's, have a higher level of technical expertise. with this comes the experience of getting free music. I have not paid for a cd in over 2 years now. now that napster is shutdown, I will move (like everyone else) and find a replacement for napster. this decision affects the propietors of napster, but not the free-music community in the way the media has versed it. MOVE ON!
Businessweek ran an item on it in their latest issue. The also said that competitors of Starbucks are looking to implement similar technology.
Krispy Kreme and Outkast?

does anyone know how much this will cost when it is out?
True, Microsoft may be running, but its only about hmmm, 3 more minutes until they 'crash' again.

In related News: Eminem and Dr. Dre are planning a similar ad campaign.
It is easy to say that SK will fail at this if you put up a direct link to the download. play fair and we'll see if your theory holds water.
