  1. Actually, no missing spider at all. on Spider Missing After Trip To Space Station · · Score: 5, Informative

Another case of news media sensationalizing what really happened. There are two spiders in the habitat (spider habaitat, not ISS human habitat). The goal is to see how two spiders will interact in micro-gravity.

For about the first 24 hours after launch only one spider was seen. After that BioServe Space Technologies at CU Boulder (the group responsible for the habitat) located the other spider. It had simply been outside of the view of the camera.

  2. Coincidence? on FBI Can Inspect Bank Records w/o Court Orders · · Score: 3, Insightful

Is it any coincidence that Saddam was "captured" on the 14th of December?

Me thinks he was rolled out as a diversionary tactic just like good ol' Osama will be proclaimed dead from kidney failure or "captured" shortly before the '04 election to improve Bush's ratings.

  3. My top 10 in no order on Top 10 Software Titles Every Home PC Needs? · · Score: 1

    For windows:
    OpenOffice 1.1
Mozilla Firebird (+ flash and java)
    Mozilla Thunderbird
    Adobe Acrobat
    The Gimp
    WS_FTP Lite
    Boingo
    WinAmp 2.x
    Gaim
    Irfanview

I would add a few more however...Bittorrent, CDex, and WinZip come to mind.

    For Linux:
Everything should really be included with your distro, especially if you choose something as comprehensive as Mandrake. However, I would go with a flavor of Debian.

  6. I designed an algorithm for this on Reverse Parking Made Easy · · Score: 1

I can't take credit for coming up with a formula like that, but in one of my courses in college we designed an algorithm to park a robotic car.

  7. Re:Off Topic Question about New Zealand on 802.11b Urban Network - 3 sq km! · · Score: 1

It is a great place to live. I am an American and I went to school there for a semester. I can't wait to go back! It is a beautiful place with great people.

And for those morons that think it is Australia, it is not too similar... It is 1500 miles away and much more like England.
