  1. Don't watch Don't listen on MPAA Goes After Gnutella · · Score: 1

    The MPAA controls _entertainment_.

I no longer feel the need to be entertained by such a fascist organization.
Think I'll spend my time learning or working or reading and leave all the mass media crap I used to pay for at the mall.
Turn off the TV, Stop going to the Movies, we don't need entertainment at this price.

How about a simple solution that works no matter who you get your connectivity from?

Get your mail virtual hosted. I use Hurricane Electric and have been a very happy customer for over 12 Months.

Use Fetchmail to download your mail to your local MTA (SendMail, Postfix, whatever you like)

Send mail using whatever MTA you like.

    Advantages.
Change between cable or dsl or dialup and keep your email all in one place.

You can firewall port 25 completely :-)

Funny, I think and speak and communicate with words.

Which I turn into command lines that communicate directly with my OS (ok ok with bash).
If I like, those command lines can become a script which I can rerun.
If I like, I can automate when that script runs.

I think GUI addicts are just scared of the keyboard and lack typing skills.

I would suspect that it is still going on. Even if that sort of coercion isn't, it is hard to dispute that the decision to deploy NT in many IT shops is made by nontechnical managers for political reasons rather than by technical people for technical or financial reasons.

The U.S. Military is spending millions of tax dollars on Windows NT. NT is being pushed by upper management despite the frequent and loud protests from administrators. Pisses me off when management types choose my tools and don't have a clue what the job entails.

How come management believes salesmen and M$ marketing and not their own workers?? Oh I forgot M$ really has their customers best interest at heart ...
