    ROTFLOL

You obviously do not know anything about RISC.

First off RISC is a Reduced Instruction Set... Meaning each clock cycle the CPU DOES LESS!!!! But was ment to make up for it with simplisity of design, allowing higher clock speeds.

Look up any RISC vs CISC article, and you will see I am right.

But even more than that, current "CISC" chips, like the P3, P4, Athlon etc. are more "RISC" like than the G4. (look up arstechnica's Athlon vs G4 article)

As to end result speed... a 500mhz CPU of any type is fast enough for almost any current computer need. (this will change with new software that will come out)

IL is not the issue IP is.

It takes brain power to design a car. As much or more than to program a word processor.

But when you have a car, and it gets stolen, you no longer have a car.

If you have a word processor program, and it gets stolen, you still have that word processor program.

Supply and demand... when you have a infinite supply (any IP) the value is low.

Therefore copyrights exsist to protect I.P. FOR A LIMITED TIME. (exact words in consitution)

So, the question is... how long is reasonable? 7 years was the orginal plan.... now it is 75 years with unlimited renual. That is just wrong.

Also, when one of your "starving artists" records a CD, they get perhaps 0.5 percent of the profit.. 1/3 goes to the store that sells it... the rest to the record label. Usually what happens is that it is not even that good... because when you record with a lable, THE RECORD COMPANY OWNS THE COPYRIGHT, NOT THE ARTIST WHO SANG/WROTE IT? WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? In my opinion, It would not be a bad thing to see several industries go out of business... MPAA and RIAA members included. Starve the theives.

The denser the medium the faster sound moves through it. That is why you can hear a train coming by listening to the track, long before you can hear it standing just a few feet away.

Up at higher altitudes (like where the SR71 flew) the speed of sound is closer to 500mph.

Microsoft still prosicute for piracy of Windows 3.1?

Yes software companies should be able to make money. I am not denying that. I am just pointing out that the digital world has different laws than the physical world and sometimes very silly ones.

Look at cybersquating for example. If your last name was Schwab and you registerd www.schwab.com it would be taken away from you, without compensation. Or if you registered "growing business's name.com" same thing. If on the otherhand you were a real estate agency, and you thought Podunk Idaho would grow soon, and you purchased all the land that was for sale in the aria of Podunk Idaho, when the town grew you could resell that land for a profit. Explain that to me.

I have a question for everyone here.

Right now if you buy all the parts for a 83 Ford Escort separatly (eg an engine from one place, a replacment fender from another) and put together a complete car, do you have to pay Ford after you are all done and have a complete car?

So how about if you had a real working perfect 3d printer (eg: duplicator) and used it to make a copy of your 83 Ford Escort (right down to the leaky power steering pump) using your own electricty and your own raw materials, would you have to pay Ford for the copy when you are done?

Then take this to copying a new car. Would you have to pay then?

And if not, how is this any different from software "piracy"? Because when someone "steals" a program, the person he "stole" it from still has his program. That person did not loose anything.

Just like if someone copied my 83 Escort I would still have my original 83 Escort, and I would not care if someone did.

(actually I don't drive a escort, I just picked on it as an example)

With Dune, we have the 84 movie to compare it to, and quite honestly the old movie is Far superior in many aspects. Don't get me wrong, the movie had lots and lots of flaws, but someone who has read the books can genuinely enjoy the movie. The movie was good. They did not have enough time to do the whole book, so they had to cut some.

Now comes the miniseries... They have 6 hours in which to correct the mistakes of the movie.

What do they do? THEY CUT EVEN MORE OUT. There is LESS in the Miniseries, and MORE ERRORS than in the movie.

What dogshit.. If they had not called it Dune, perhaps it would be OK, but it dosn't Follow the book AT ALL.

Paul picks his name, Muad'Dib And it dosn't mean "Messiah" it is the name of a desert RAT.

The Harkonins were not kicked off Arrakis because of low spice productions, nor was Rabban in charge of Arrakis before Duke Leto. Every 100 Years the CHOAM contract changes, the Harkonins had to give it up, 100 years had passed.

Duke Leto did not say "the first defence against a trap is knowing of it's existance" Thufi (SP?) did.

Paul was not a Sniviling brat of a boy eather. He was a respectable young man, almost ready to be duke.

Whoever wrote the miniseries must not have EVER read the book.

I mean come on, the emperor's daughter was a bookworm and historian not a dancer.

    The list goes on.

If Frank Herbert was alive today I am sure he would be mortified by what was done to his book.

Take an epic masterpeice, make a movie of it, then take the script of the movie, tranlate it into chinese, then back again, then have a toddler draw on it with a marker and have someone who has NEVER read the original book, but saw the movie 10 years ago try to make a miniseries with what is left and you would come up with the exact same thing as what we have now.

I mean you have 6 HOURS to work with, and you CUT MORE out than what the Movie had? I mean COME ON.
