  1. Damn... on Kazaa to be shut down? · · Score: 1
Kazaa was the only client that seemed to work and work well. And access to 400 TerraBytes of data? So effing greating it's not even funny.

What if they were to suddenly go opensource? Would that stop the RIAA's evil powers?

  2. Open Source != money on Transgaming Bringing Windows Games to Linux(?) · · Score: 1

I honestly don't think it's possible to make an income from open source. By charging for it, it eliminates the whole idea of "free source code".

If one wants to contribute to the community, then do it on a part-time basis. Do not base your entire life on an open source project. Get a paying job, and work to enhance the community in your spare time.

"Lets see...if I divide the mass of this, by the volume of that, multiply by the 'Q' factor of this approach vector, ofcourse keeping in mind the varible wind density...ahhh ha! yes! I'VE FOUND THE VELOCITY OF A GERMAN!"

    ***********Disclimer************
This was meant to be in no way offensive to Germany, or it's people: the Germans.
One can easily find the velocity of Americans by simply substituting the 'Q' factor with the square root of 5.2

Common, this isn't a true human clock! It's a cheap immitation. A real one consists of a man standing on the street, telling the time with his arms and his...um...pendulum...

These won't be as funny as say the Boss' Copyright Notice post, but they have given me some chuckles...

    1. In grade 10, I was in a grade 12 System Analysis and Design class, and we were assembling computers to be used by the rest of the school. I walked by an open 486 and decided it would be fun to remove the processor and play with it. I then put it back. The next day, my group went to boot that computer. To our amazement, it did not work. We later came to the conclusion, that I had fried the processor with static, and it was now only good as a paperweight. Of course my teacher demanded to know what was going on, so I gave her this whole spiel about the ever-famous Chernobyl virus. I said that it had fried the BIOS and the CPU, and that the computer was useless. She demanded that we replace the BIOS chip and try again. We did that, and nothing happend. She then bought my story. Even the "Computer Guy" of the school bought my story. It was great.

    2. Late one night, I was cleaning out the family computer, and noticed that my father had a second profile, and it wasn't used at all. It was also taking up 500 megs. I decided to delete it. I did have to be careful to delete the right profile however, because they both had the same name. I checked and double checked, and I was quite sure I had the right one, so I hit delete. Then I notcied files going byebye. I also noticed that these files were not meant to be going byebye. I quickly hit cancel after screaming many times, and then noticed that about 1 Gig of my fathers useable profile, was now history. I even spent about 4 hours trying to bring it back. I ended up telling him that "The computer is organized into sectors," and that his "sector got deleted because the hard drive went crazy due to a power outtage". He nodded, as though confused, and we have never discussed the matter again.

    God bless stupidity.

  8. Rendering Time on The Tech behind Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within · · Score: 1
Anyone want to fathom a guess at how long it took to render the whole movie?

Do they have to edit the who thing into one sequence, or can they break it up into scenes and edit them together? I've always been curious as to the rendering time behind these types of movies (ie: Toy Story, Shrek, etc...)
