Lack of scaleability beyond 4 CPUS? thats incorrect. I thought linux supported 16 cpus... basically... this article doesn't appeal to me, but there is no use arguing.
good point. guess I will have to turn to wearable computers. I guess palmtops just aren't that usefull for my life style. It will be a while untill you can compile a kernel on it;] I read up a lil on palmtops this evening... and I suppose they could be usefull... and even fun... but I would rather carry the extra 3lbs and have the ability to play quake2. then again, if they get linux on a palmtop. I might have to get one.
I dont see the reason to buy a palmtop except for... of course.. the price. You can get a cheap AMD K6-2 mini-notebook for about 1300 bucks. about as big, but much more functionality? Anyone agree? or disagree?
I was speaking of the PC market. EXP. something I can find reasonably cheap. g3/4 are good chips. unfortunately I STILL havn't been able to find one I can put together myself. as far as other hardware... I have either been not impressed by it... or it is way too expensive for the mogamips.
I appologise to all concerned. I was in a state of drunken linux stupur. still. arp only has to be compiled when ethernet networking is compiled in. I have removed arp from my kernel. used to remove icmp too.
let me see... I think a capture is in order... pimpsmurf:~# arp pimpsmurf:~#
not seeing anything here and I do beleive arp isn't in my kernel... ahhh yes. Why dont you take your leet redhat rpm skills... and... well... gonna keep this clean. therefor. no mac addy. funny. I hate it when YOU run around screaming... without knowing what YOU are talking about.
AMD is the best chip on the market. period. They are fighting a war with Intel, one they may loose. I support them all he way. k7 chips are faster than any Intel chip made. period. (Whats this??? 700mhz???) I truly hope they succeed. PimpSmurf
not to be rude... but installing caldera when you know nothing about your computer??? silly! He should have gone with slackware/redhat/suse... anything except caldera or debian... they are great distros... but NOT... and I mean NOT for 1st time linux folk! This article is kind funny... but also misleading about linux. PimpSmurf
looks like an interesting book.
Might be able to _FINALLY_ settle some bar bets I have made!
