HP's Actions Support SCO's Position That Linux is not Free Wednesday September 24, 9:52 am ET
# LINDON, Utah, Sept. 24/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The following is being issued by The SCO Group
HP's actions this morning reaffirm the fact that enterprise end users running Linux are exposed to legal risks. Rather than deny the existence of substantial structural problems with Linux as many Open Source leaders have done, HP is acknowledging that issues exist and is attempting to be responsive to its customers' request for relief. HP's actions are driving the Linux industry towards a licensing program. In other words, Linux is not free.
We are gratified that, alone among the major Linux vendors, HP has taken a strong stand to protect their customers by indemnifying them against possible legal difficulties stemming from their use of Linux. We believe that this action signals that HP recognizes their Linux users could, in fact, face litigation because of copyright violations and intellectual property problems within Linux. As a company that strongly supports its customers, HP has done something about this.
Now that HP has stepped up for its customers, SCO once again encourages Red Hat, IBM and other major Linux vendors to do the same. We think their customers will demand it.
All through grade school & high school we were told that smoking a single joint was as bad for your lungs as smoking 2 entire packs of cigarettes.
Anyone who's parents have made them smoke an entire pack at one sitting will tell you that you can't make it through one pack (chain smoked) without puking.
That being said, I've heard that using a vaporizer to smoke pot removed 99.9% of the carcinogens.
So is it legal for me to download ATHF & Futurama episodes from Kazaa? I have a dish & tv & could normally watch them (if I didn't feel like sleeping that is). I don't feel like spending the cash on a TiVo. The end result is the same. Am I breaking the law?
Funny I always thought it was the paper/textile companies like Duke, that were scared to death of something useful being done with pot. Guess which one can produce more paper: an acre of pine or an acre of pot? Now guess which paper is better quality.
They really should balance that against the reasons they we're given a corporate charter to start with i.e. to benefit the collective group of people who allowed them to form a corporation in the first place. Stocks to buy & sell aren't enough. Jobs are more important.

Good point, my mom was complaining about how much the cost of food has gone up in the last 5 years. I pointed out the fact that RJR & Winston-Salem own most of the compaines that sell food (Kraft, Nabisco, etc..) & that the cost of anti-tobacco litigation is just being pawned off thru their other companies.

I agree, the differnce between GTA:VC on my PC & GTA:VC on my friends PS2 is staggering. The PC looks so much better my friend remarked she should have waited & bought it for her Dell instead.

You're right, we should use baby seals & spotted owls instead.
Jaysyn
Of course since the organizers are dead at this point, I don't think it really much matters.
Jaysyn
I plan to live forever, of course, but barring that I'd settle for a couple thousand years. Even five hundred would be pretty nice.

The Civic Hybrid looks an awful lot like a CRX with a bodykit to me.
Jaysyn
Cool, would that be a legitimate "fair" use of Kazaa then?

Worked for Willie Nelson. Except he quit drinking *and* smoking cigs.

Serious question, not a troll.
Jaysyn
And this will save their kid's ass how?
A prosecutor which would be the only person that mattered in the previously stated case, wouldn't have a problem with those "hard to understand" laws.
Think man, think!

Heh, cause that's what AutoCAD runs on, and AutoCAD is what the customer wants their drawings done in. See also: ArcGIS, MapInfo & LODE Data Corp.

Yeah, but the librarians sure do look at you funny when you're walking out with a stack of 8 1/2" x 11" photocopied paper.
