science is neither strictly inductive nor deductive. for instance, all of classical geometry is derived deductively, whereas the laws of
physics are formed inductively via observation and experiment. ( of course i'm make blanketing claims on huge fields, but let's not get too pedantic. )
People are "stuck" because they have a tendency to continue to use that which they're familiar. Unfortunately, they've grown familiar with windows because countless computer labs, libraries, etc... are filled with windows machines.
