If the DMA does start lobbying, Everett-Church says the big question will be the wording of the final bill: "The question is how are they going to define spam and solve the problem in a way that actually makes a difference to consumers' mailboxes?"
I can see these guys lobbying
Maybe they can spam the legislators until submission.
Notice that this time the newssites was _very_ quick on going to a light version of their pages.
They have obviously learned from prior experiences.
Dow Jones however dropped 200 points faster than any newssite could update their pages. Consider the impact on US-airtraffic.
Wonder how much time it will take until someone goes bankrupt and wether it will be a US or some other national agency that drops first.
..unfortunately one would have to say that this particular voting is in touch with reality.
You can see the same results in national elections in almost all major countries. Exception being the aussies (fine for not voting) and some of the scandinavian countries (big grin) alltough even there the percentage of voters are dropping.
The interesting discussion would be if this is the voters fault or the system. (aka the politicians?)
Before someone accuse me of bragging.. (Iyep I am a scandinavian) remember that the ones controlling who we are voting for is the political parties. And sofar less than 20% of the population is enrolled in a political organisation. Is it ok to blaim your politicians for doing a lousy job when you don't care who get the chance to become one?
Actually internet elections has allready found place.
One american state (was is Florida?) has allready made it possible to vote in their state elections by using the net.
Improvement? Well it remains to see doesnt it:)
US voting system could certainly need an inprovement but saying it would improve so considerably by changing it is another issue.
First you need to get people to vote, more than 50% of the eligable voters at least.

elementary school students is not as dangerous as you make em sound.
(just wait until you get older and you will not only see that I tell the truth but you might even develop a language)

"quickies".....hmm another example of the differences in social culture and life between the computer geeks and those with a social life. ( a real one).
hmm well as close as you can get I suppose:)
Well this isnt really a single post is it?
Its a collection of many postings.
Not that I didnt like it. Just never seen a post with several issues before here.
When did/. (yep its a slash and a dot) start with small presentation post?
I thought the idea was to post single post under each heading so we could sort it the way we wanted.
Nothing wrong in trying to make a site a bit more userfriendly (no pun intended) but pls. don't go any further. I am getting fed up of sites that are so userfriendly that you don't get more info above the technical treshold of "right-clicking" and "left-clicking" (first option said in a whisper with the air of computerwiz magic surrounding it)
Ranglefant
*sniff*
I had never heard of Halo before and suddenly a friend of mine sent me the prelease movie.. *jaw fell to the ground*
What can be worse than hearing of this wonderful new game and then learning only 24hrs later that it may never be released to the real game world (sorry Microsoft x-box isnt in the real gameworld yet).
Arrrrgghh! If anything made me hate monopoly its this.
(and by the way Myth was wonderful..except the neverending maze in the tunnels)

I bet Mickey would have done a better job at it :)
ok so you get people to vote... so what?
You still need decent politicians to choose from. I just can't see it happen in the US in my time.
