Parents need to take more of a responsibility in raising their kids and teaching them what is real and what is fantasy. I'm rather lucky, because I was taught that way.
When I was 12 years old, I rented Mortal Kombat II from the video store. My father just warned me to remember the difference between fantasy and reality. I heeded that warning, and I've come out just fine now. Even though I was an admitted Nintendo freak until a few years ago, I'm well-adjusted and normal.
Video games are not the problem; bad parents are the problem...
I just won't shop at Circuit City anymore because of Divx. No matter what, I will not enter a Circuit City retail outlet. I thought they sucked enough before, now they're trying to push this Divx crap on us? I'd do much better at Best Buy or Radio Shack or whatever.
BTW, those Circuit City commercials are just plain idiotic. Especially when they were trying to push Divx during the Super Bowl. They didn't mention a damn thing about how you are billed when you view a Divx disc each time. They just smiled and advertised this "DVD player with Divx" for only $399! (I'm not sure of the actual price, but I'm guessing it was that.)
Boycott Circuit City until they get rid of Divx forever. Just go to Radio Shack or Best Buy...
He's only saying it because now, Linux poses a threat to his evil empire! In the early-mid 1990s, when Linux wasn't much of anything, Micro$oft didn't pay much attention to Linux. Now that Linux is growing in popularity and threatening M$, it's taking notice and spreading the FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt).
Bill Gates wouldn't really care that Linux is out there if it didn't pose a threat. The reason that he's trying to build up the FUD is because it _is_ a threat! He's scared!
