  1. no self regulation ! on Antarctic Ozone Hole Leveling Off · · Score: 1

the potential recovery of the ozone hole is
due to the world wide reduction of CFCs.

It is not mother earth recovering itself !!!

It is not clear however, whether the global warming
could stop the recovery, since the warming
of the lower levels in the atmosphere is
connected to a cooling in the stratosphere.
This cooling enhances the desctruction of ozone.

  2. scientests are rather sure about our future on Global Warming Studies Improve · · Score: 1

quite suprisingly to me that slashdot readers seem much less enthusiastic to studies about simulations than other computer topics.

fact is: climate simulations can only reproduce the last 50 years when human produced greenhouse gases are taken into account. they fail, without them.

further readings are given at www.ipcc.ch

beside some very few, all scientists, including Americans, are standing behind these results.

the future of the ozone hole is strongly dependant on the future of our climate. and there are indications that the climate change will affect the ozone hole in a negative manner. we must not wait and do nothing.

when we look to children, we see, that creativity essentially comes from having time to think about 'nothing'. and that time is exactly what we don't have anymore.
