I recommend Automate. It would get the job done and can be deployed over a network. Although it'll only work on windows machines.
Alternatively a cheaper solution would be to copy over all the mozilla files and registry settings to each machine.
The problem with asynchronous logic is that even though it might seem faster in theory you have to deal with the introduction of many new race conditions. Thus to prevent to the race conditions you need to implement many handshacking methods. In the end it really becomes no faster than sychronous logic due to the handshacking. This is especially true these days with 2.5 GHz CPUs.
The new doom if as good as the original will definitely make people go out and get new hardware. Carmack seems to think a GeForce 3 as the minimum specs will be just dandy.
I had a site hosted by then about 3.5 years ago when they were starting out. I had a couple simple CGI scripts running and they kept chmodding them to 0 as they said I was using too much CPU (I was getting about 100 visitors a day and the scripts were fairly simple). I thought whatever and took them off and thought that was that.
Then my site got a bit popular and it started using a half gig of transfer per day (not too much) well they shut off my account without telling me. I had to email them and only then did they reply and let me know. I prepaid half a year with them so I disputed the charges and got out of there as fast as possible.
I've been through about 3 other hosts since then and I have to say that they were by far the most unprofessional bunch.
Everyone knows the real reason it's so misunderstood is that the movie had NO SOUND IN SPACE!!! Sure sound can't travel through a vacuum but once you get Star Wars you can't go back (yes I know SW is younger).
Also a good windows alternative client Miranda ICQ has been in development for over a year (did I mention it's open sourced?). It has basic messaging without all the fluff and bloat.
With all these people complaining about the official ICQ's bloat why not try Miranda ICQ?
It takes up about half a meg of RAM, has basic messaging and sending URL features and even plugins. Plus it's open source;)
After Sony's ridiculously restricting and inconvenient software on the memory stick walkman "MP3 players" (although they don't really play MP3s I really don't think I'll be buying into their new music format. I'm sure it'll have some sort of ultra inconvenient copyright restrictions.
Although I have to admit I wouldn't buy a discman from any company. Seems like it's one of the few areas where they still do it right.
MSFT realizes that linux known as a stable and reliable OS so they must riddle it with their buggy and crash-prone products to dissipate that "pesky rumor".
<i>NIKE DISCLAIMER: This site's administrators have no idea how or why the nike.com page was redirected to s11.org and do not condone this action, however we do thank nike for the extra hits.</i>
Seems like they're happy to get their message out but are still suing?!?! Rather strange if you ask me.

It's nice how the moderates gave him informative while he recited an April fool's joke.

I tried this under solaris and here are my results:
- Netscape 4.7 renders the page correctly.
- Mozilla gets the upgrade message.
- Opera gets the upgrade message even when I changed the user agent string. Maybe some sort of ip caching?
On the bright side this will just make more users find better homepages.
If you don't like bloat in clients you might want to give Miranda ICQ a try.
And it's even open source!
I think timothy forgot to close an html [i] (triangle brackets) tag as the whole page is now in italics.

I guess the fact that today is April 1st doesn't have anything to do with this ;)
You know there's a pretty easy way to block doubleclick. In windows edit your c:\windows\hosts file to include:
127.0.0.1 doubleclick.net
There's also the hosts file in linux that can do the same thing. No more worries about doubleclick!
To me it seems that they're trying to comeback after it was revealed that MSN Messenger is more popular.

In Canada most of the lottery is completely run by the government and what does this mean:
100% tax free lottery winnings
So if you won $1mil in Canada and $1mil in the US you'd actually get more money in Canada.
But I thought Governor Bush's "educational reform" in Texas fixed all that ;)
Excuse my ignorance but the BlackIce in the article wouldn't referring to Network Ice which makes the BlackIce firewall now would it?
This could be the next step in internet porn. You drag your mouse over the picture and feel the curves.
;)
I'm sure if they made this happen it would be reason enough for these mice to catch on
I wonder if all of us @home users could sue @home since they severely crippled our uploading speed..
