  1. Re:Actually, if you think about it on Java To Overtake C/C++ in 2002 · · Score: 1

Here's a bit of an explanation as to why it was complicated to me.. I started out coding on my C= 64, learned a little BASIC, gave it all up when I learned about girls, picked back up with VB3. and had gotten used to VB, when I decided I was brave enough to try linux again which meant learning (yes) c++ By the time I got to Java, it was a whole new world to me and quite frankly, I was lost. of course, this doesn't mean that I gave Java a fair shot. Only that I looked at it, tried, with my preformed mentality, to do something usefull with it, failed miserably and went back to what I knew and was comfortable with. Now, I may have to rethink my standing on it after reading your post, and a few more here. Hopefully you're right, I would love to be able to code efficiently with it.

Hardware designed to run Java seems to run it fine and with a huge amount of speed increase over normal pc hardware.. By that line of thought, all that needs to happen is for SUN to get with the hardware mfgs, spread around a little bonus money , and get them to better support java apps. Java's a little complicated to program in, I'll admit I tried it, didn't like it, but I'm a little cpp biased.

ok I'm not an "information wants to be free" monkey, neither do I oppose the idea. But to what extent do we need (I)DRM? Understandably, commercial software vendors want to profit from their creations, and artists want to be paid for their art, but I think that this is going to reach much farther than that. I have seen how the 'net has changed in the last 8-10 years and I remember when it was the BBS ops protecting their own 'wares (which had an entirely different meaning back then) and through it all, not a lot has really changed except the technology behind it all. Big brother (whoever it may be in each particular case) wants to be assured that you only get your slice of the pie and not a part of his. It's only a matter of time before image recognition filters are in place and can monitor who is on your desktop background. It's always us [trying to keep them out of our business] against them [making us their business] and guess what! We always lose! How long until pirated software, mp3s pr0n etc just searches your drive for a liscense, and self destructs when it doesn't find it? Anyway, I suppose I'm just ranting.

What's more likely to happen is, the judge will set bail, Dimitry will either pay the amount in full or pay ten percent to a bonding agency, and they will have him released into their custody, (presuming the judge allows bail) and the judge will set a court date. Dimitry will go to court and go to jail and Adobe will do as much PR magic as they can to polish their user-unfriendly image. (translated to some shmuck at adobe will put ten bucks on DS's books)
