  1. Re:Have a look at more than programming on Book Recommendations For A New Programming Shop? · · Score: 1

Thank you kindly. Will look into it. Happy Holidays!

  2. Should listen to the lil people.... on Hacking AOL From The Inside · · Score: 1
This really shows badly for AOL that their own departments are hacking their main product line. If the folks at Nullsoft are truely so unhappy with whom they have partnered/been bought by that they turn to AOL for apps to mess with someone up high OBVIOUSLY wasn't listening to the folks on the ground floor...

Sounds like some damn money grubbing management doesn't care what their employees think about where their going. I bet the high-ups bailed after the big check can in the mail too...

    Capitalism...Aint it great!

  3. The cost of doing business.... on Publicly Funded Competition For NASA? · · Score: 2
I agree that NASA can seem a bit slow to make advances and they have had a few 'problems' with Mars bound missions.

    But,

If we split the 'funds' between two large organizations I think we could start getting less results for the amount of money the Gov spends.

Secondly, if it's a private company, we would have to worry about safety, I mean will human lives be put at risk at the 'Cost of doing business?' And what new organization will have to be created to 'police' the startups? Because, you better believe the gov. is going to want to watch who is touching that high tech low drag equipment!

  4. We think out of the Box. We have to.. on Hackers And Mysticism? · · Score: 1

Folks, it comes down to this. We geeks are real world 'Solution Providers.' We have to think out of the box. If we think like normal people things don't get done (I mean come on! Do you honestly think the average 'Joe' can work with C++ Pointers??!) As such we tend to let this creativity bleed out in to our surrounding thoughts, daily lives and metaphysical beliefs. And it isn't long before we start asking questions like your neighbor's 5 year old son... [5 Year old] Daddy.. If God created everything then who created him? What was there before God? And hence you start looking for a new solution to this problem...And you start coming up with different answers... Answers that are MORE acceptable to you then those that were handed to you on a silver plate.
