I still say that no matter how bad any game is it is the job of the parents to regulate what the children do and see and NOT any government or laws.
At some point if parents did decide to let their kids do whatever what would happen? Jail....death......hmm good incentives to let the kids run hog wild eh?
Just a quick point....Parents should watch the kids not the government.
Heh we don't need this bill...we don't need to have our rights taken away and most of all we wouldn't be even discussing this if it weren't for the simple fact that people thnk everything that might make someone think a different way or feel a different way is bad.
Odd how cigarettes are still being sold huh..nicotine makes people feel different..nicotine is a drug....why isnt in completely banned?....THat would hurt the politician popularity...so instead they sit down and think "Hmm now which things do very fewpeople use that we could put a spin on and make it horrible.....hmmm DRUGS thats it!"....Politician number 2 walks in...."Hey wait we use some drugs for medicene....QUICK ban those too and say they are bad also!".....gotta love how the mainstream popularity of something like tobacco has kept the industry alive for so long DESPITE the obvious problems.
Heres to you Congress.....*puts a curse on them all*
-Sarkdas (you know....theres a point in there some place)
It had all the points that it needed and brought to light alot of aspects that many may not have even thought about in dealing with fair use and such.
Al in all good article....and I really wouldn't mind Congress steping in...I don't use Napster personally because I would much rather buy the CD or borrow a friend's for a while then go and spend my time downloading a song that is lower quality and not legal.
Just my 2 cents, plat, whatever currency you please.
-Sarkdas (The cow says "moo"...the Politician says "More money!"...the RIAA says "Napster Bad"...I say "Shush")
Theres something to be said for the whole Internet voting thing. I mean it would get alot more people in the country to vote. Instead of having to go out to a place at a certain time and go to the hassle of waiting in line and such you could easily dial up your ISP and vote just before you sit down for a good round of whatever your online fancy is.
Some people think it is a bad idea and I can see why they think that. For every honest Joe in the world theres about 40 people that would just as soon stab honest Joe in the back with a really pointy object. And it is the same in the voting concept...the laws in the past haven't stopped people from trying to rig elections. Voting through the Internet would just give them another way to go about it. And on top of that we have hackers and such to go out and destroy any hope of a good clean voting system when instead of being pains they could just as easily have a fair and legal voice.
Just my 2 cents, plat, whatever currency you recognize.
-Sarkdas (Im not a hacker, Im not a fink, I do many things, but I do not stink!)
I say the RAM information is well written out and gives a good overview of RAM in general that even a person that doesn't have alot of technical known-how could understand....Heres to the writers....GOOD JOB! -Sarkdas (Only 70 FPS? Wow thats low...)
I have MAME and love it....I have gotten to the 3rd level of Tron and gotten to maybe around 10 or 11 on Discs of Tron....its so nice to play these games....but I was truly overjoyed when I went to COSI....they have *takes a breath* Pac-Man Asteroids Space Invaders Space Harrier Atari Football Defender and a few more... Its simply wonderful playing these old games....I truly think game designers back then were better then quite a few we have now. In closing....get MAME...play the old games....and if you can...save a real arcade game....its the least we nerds can do to preserve the good old days. -Sarkdas (How sweet it is!)
Well this is really a sad thing to see. I guess it may just be the decline of the world into a corp controlled world where they do what they want when they like but at least the FTC is poping in and trying to stop it.
I really don't think they should be doing this to the customers. I mean what if they had a sudden infusion of capital and got back on their feet? How many people would do business with them NOW?
Not many I beleive. Where would you rather go a place that sells the information you give them privatly or someone who locks it in a vault and buries it in 10 feet of concrete? Well maybe that was a bad setup but my point is, that maybe they should think a little bit more on this and with any luck they may decide not to sell it. I doubt that they will but hey we can hope.
Thats about all I got to say on this....lets hope something is done...I'd hate to see this become a trend.
Shame on you Toysmart...I would have expected better from a toy company.
-Sarkdas (This is commander Sarkdas, Over and out!)
I know this will probably seem like an incredibly stupid question but well here it is.
Which brand (as in Mandrake, Red Hat, etc etc) would you recommend for a simple Music server such as internet radio or even just a little LAN server?
Now here is another which I would also like to know. (Sorry for asking more then one)
I have a little P166 that I'm considering making my personal Linux play toy but I don't know what I should get on the system other then just the basic programs. I want the most I can get from it while having the programs and utilies to do nearly anything that the system would be able to handle. I would also like to see if I could make it into a nice little proxy for my LAN parties I have. What do you suggest and how would you suggest I go about setting the system up?
-Sarkdas (Man is more then he ever was before..now that he has technology within his grasp)
Ahh its getting closer and closer each day....if technology would only advance a bit more I could be running around in the shadows with a nice little datajack and a cyberdeck and some spiffy weapons and ware =D
soon my friends we will be pushed more and more by the corps....eventually we will submit to their will and become happy little wage slaves in a building or factory (well most are but im talking about the others) or the people will rise up and say NO MORE!
Its in the future I can feel it....maybe Im beefing it up a bit.....oh well....Im gonna go play some shadowrun....now I need some new players....
-Sarkdas (ok everyone how many street sams we got?)
Whats a mormon? Heh I really don't know I have never known and may never know. As for chicago the fact that when I went there on vacation it totally and completely sucked kinda made me sour on chicago's atomosphere nothing against the people except those that know who I may be.
If your good get out before the wall goes up if not then Ill push you back in:P
Maybe your a good one but calling me a Sadist and whatever a mormon is doesn't make me like you a whole lot.
Nah detonate a small tactical nuke in the center and wall off every land connected part except for some spots for refugee camps and place troops to kill anyone trying to get out. (thats about whats its like in te SR world) as for the water why would those in the north want chicago? I know I wouldn't if I were up there. and Im a US citizen...just think how friendly I am in person =D -Sarkdas (ME:Its just one wasp spirit how bad could it be? GM:Do you have any magic spells or weapons or ANYTHING like that? ME: Umm no. GM:Lets make this short....you die.)
I really am beginning to dislike this under 13 stuff
I roleplay alot so that hurt me big when 10 chars of mine were locked from Yahoo for having ages marked with ?? or under 13 Really this is a sad time on the Internet.
I like what he said about how Napster people always defend themselves by saying they are ripping off the big companies. I also liked the entire article in general because of the perspective it brings to the whole "Napster is good because it helps small bands get their music out!" lets hear it for BDR!
-Sarkdas (its not the size of the psycho that matters but just how crazy they really are!)
Its kinda neat how Scifi and such can begin to mimic real life...check out http://shadowrun.html.com and read some stuff in UCAS online...neat stuff on how our world is mimicing SR a tad =D
Im not sure about that...wouldnt it being a laser or microwave not really move it at all since it is just a electromagnetic emmission of some sort? Hmmm...well maybe it would move it slightly but wouldnt a tiny thrust from conventional thrusters easily fix it?
We wouldnt need age limits on things if parents were responsible for ALL of their kids no matter who they are.
But since thats in an ideal universe too bad.
-Sarkdas

Hmmm I think I may read it....
The would probably round out my actual PAPER reading for a while...
Then its back to the CRT monitor that has been burning my eyes for so long!
WOOHOO!
-Sarkdas A book is all fine and good but nothing beats it like a book that you can read in between killing shadowrun chars =D)
We dont need no voice control....
Heh we don't need this bill...we don't need to have our rights taken away and most of all we wouldn't be even discussing this if it weren't for the simple fact that people thnk everything that might make someone think a different way or feel a different way is bad.

Please dont mark me down...I dont want bad karma!
I just clicked wrong!
