  1. Re:Pencil = Good on When Word Processors Are Out: What's The Best Pen? · · Score: 1

Since sharing is the worm of the day...

I still have a small (~2mm) tip of a pencil in my left thumb, after a girl in my class stabbed me with one some 10 years ago.

  2. Not surprising, perhaps? on Norway Bans Spam · · Score: 1

I have some familiarity with Norway, living rather near (Finland). One interesting thing is that they don't use curse words. If someone uses them, he/she is considered foolish. They don't, for example, translate curse words in movie subtitles. Therefore I am not very surprised that it was Norway that did this sort of thing first. I hope the rest of us will follow soon.

  3. Re:Why not push it into space? (not a good idea) on Mir on Death Row - No Clemency Expected · · Score: 1

It would not be good an idea, considering the energy needed to propel it away from earth's gravitational field. Why waste that much fuel for something that idle?

  4. Finally the marvel-station goes... on Mir on Death Row - No Clemency Expected · · Score: 2

Well, it has been up there way beyond anyone's expectations. The station was designed to be in space only for a decade or so. It being able to be up there so long is practicly a miracle, so this was just a matter of time...

  5. Best? I think so... Finally a new release on Slackware 7.2 [Not] Released · · Score: 2

I prefer Slackware, because it is a "basic" linux. Unlike RedHat which has tons of excess stuff in it, Slackware is a pure (if you allow the expression) distribution. I guess Debian would be similar in this way, but it's latest distribution is always old... :)

  6. A Finnish point of view on 'Texting' Takes Over The Philippines · · Score: 1

I'm from the mentioned country, Finland, and even though we do use the cellulars to talk too, the sending of SMS, or "texting", has reached somewhat hideous levels here too. I'm sure the examples of the article are not unheard of here either (though I haven't seen any in funerals yet).
