Because you said so...? People have been using full disk encryption on normal drives for a very long time now without too much complains for most workloads. Something designed specifically for full disk encryption should have less of an impact.
The OpenBSD group does a number of things. LibreSSL is one of them. They ask for donations to the general fund. If you like, you donate. If you don't, don't donate. OpenBSD runs a lean organization. Everything they do is open sourced and standards driven. And they make it _portable_ correctly.
If you have an axe to grind against them for forking a piece of shit code, take it and shove it.
Bullshit. I was running up through 10.4 or 10.5 on a PowerMac G4 450mhz. It was more responsive (I didn't say faster) and usable than the dual 1.4Ghz Pentium 3 I had.
Not if your OS is tied intimately to your filesystem. Linux might not, because a large number of things are abstracted out, but FreeBSD depends on its file system, Solaris took a very long time/effort before it could boot off ZFS. Forget about moving Windows off NTFS. Apple actually did some work on putting it onto ZFS, maybe they will continue.
You are a fucking idiot. It incubates for anywhere up to 7-10 years before symptoms appear. By the time symptoms appear, you're already fucked.
Testing 40,000 cows is a drop in the bucket. UK tests *EVERY SINGLE COW*.
The symptoms manifests in cows after about 7 years, so under Bush, they changed the requirement that meat cows be slaughtered before 3, so no one can even spot a cow that is carrying it.
What kind of nonsense are you spouting? Every processor out there with the exception of that one open sourced one, *IS* proprietary! *YOU* go try and make an x86 and see if Intel sues the pants off you.
You also don't understand what scalability and all the other big words mean. You don't even know that your Intel processor is now effectively a RISC core with a CISC layer of microcode on top.
And who the hell cares if you can run 8bit or 16 mode shit? Those were all design inefficiencies and now you are fucking bragging about it? What an idiot.

You need an app for that?
Since when do you have to plug your iphone in to turn off find my iphone? Not in iOS 6, 7 or 8.
Try watching where your iOS devices connect to when you send an iMessage. Or use Photostream.
a 2Ghz cpu emulating a 1Mhz cpu with amazing accuracy doesn't mean a 2Ghz cpu can emulate a 2Ghz cpu with amazing accuracy.

Considering that FIPS is a USA abortion and OpenBSD is Canadian, eh...
The word you are looking for is "abomination".

Because emulators do not properly emulate some issues. Keep in mind, most of the time the host is... x86, but the end point being emulated is ARM.
Why does it take this much effort to explain to idiots why this is a bad idea?
Are you really equating giving your work address and your home address out as the same thing?
You obviously have evidence for this?
If you don't learn it from school, and don't learn it from slashdot, you don't know about it?!?!
No wonder all software sucks.
No, it is not. Granted, GNU doesn't like man pages any more, but in general, reading documentation is the RIGHT THING TO DO.
Uh, it's only been around since the mid-90s if not earlier.
Unconnected archiving is a universally recognized good practice. Why in hell don't the new guys understand this?
Every generation, someone gets to learn this lesson all over again.
ZFS raid does that.

It's the beta, not-for-sale-yet products that Cisco got their hands on that is the problem.

Wow. A factual followup. Wish I had mod points.

ssd + ram really helps make it a better/faster machine, if you haven't already done that.
So when Walmart does it, it's bad, but when Amazon does it, because it's online, it's good?
