They are re-writing LibreSSL for *OPENBSD* across all the hardware platforms OpenBSD runs on.
Once they have stabilized it, another team, the Portability team, will then add a portability layer for other OSes.
What is so difficult to understand, and why is everyone getting their knickers up in a bunch over it?
If you like OpenSSL, continue to use it. If you want a safe, secure ssl implementation, you wait for them to finish LibreSSL and use OpenBSD. If you want a safe, secure ssl implementation on other OSes, you wait for the Portability team to finish its work. To help speed it up, donate $$ so that they can bring in more programmers.
Any other bitching just shows what an idiot you are (not saying you're bitching, just pointing that out to the general peanut gallery).
Rather than asking this, why not just do a search for it? If you are using Google for searching, go into incognito mode so that you don't get results that "you like".
This particular question has been covered numerous times, and very very well.
How would BitLocker help in this case? Just curious why you think it'd help when it is information that's being exposed on the Internet, on a server that is running, and attached to the Internet, and not stolen laptops.
Because you have short term memory of a goldfish. When Apple first established the appstore, their 30% was considered *VERY* reasonable, and in fact other cell phone company appstores or RIM was charging way way above that, between 50% to 75%.
What I find amazing is how many Apple users brag about the extreme profit margin Apple is extracting from them, as if that is something positive for consumers. You can see it most frequently in iPhone vs Android discussions after Android very clearly passed iPhone in market share. Then the argument became "but Apple has much higher profit". Yes, they do, and it is coming out of your wallet, why are you happy about that?
What is the difference between buying an unlocked iPhone 5S for $650 and an unlocked Galaxy S5 for $650?
Just because Apple sells more of them, so they should reduce the price, and therefore reduce what they can invest into new products?
You understand there's a difference between profit and revenue which is independent of market share, right?
There's been a lot of articles about Apple taking 3/4 of all the profits in the mobile phones market.
You also understand that the growth in the mobile phone market are on the cheap phones side - low to very low profit margins on those, right? Or in some cases, negative profits (ie, loses)
Are you fucking retarded? The OpenBLD team can always contribute fixes to the version that OpenSSL maintains.
How? Did you see the number of changes and fixes already made? The OpenSSL team already said they can't handle it.
But hey, you're right, they should totally create a vendor-locked version of an extremely critical core Internet security technology and then tell people that they can either pay up or do the work to vender-unlock their non-portable code themselves. Selfish fucks.
"Hey, your shit stinks. If you can't fix it, I'll need to clean it up for my own use" and they're selfish fucks? You have a fucked up view of the world. Nobody owes you a damned thing. You are welcome to use OpenBSD if you want a safe secure version of ssl. If you don't, then don't. If you don't want to use OpenBSD, then go and pay someone to do it, or do it yourself.
Let me repeat that - nobody owes you a damned thing. This is a labor of love. They do not love what you love. They do not have to love what you love.
And? If you want it for your pet OS, you can write your own. Or you can pay someone to port something to your pet OS. And if you want to pay someone, go ahead. Nobody owes you anything.
I would wait for the next version...
R2D2...
Anyone who hates regulations, please move to Somalia. That's your Utopia. Stop stinking up over here with your pseudo intellectual drivel.
You missed McKinley, Cleveland, Madison, Chase and Wilson.

Really? Just because he believes doing good things should not be a publicity contest now means he is a narcissist?!
Why do you denialists just ignore data? There has been no stagnation, you denialist.
are you really an idiot? Comparing a social science subject to a hard science subject in terms of scientific rigor?

Too bad I don't have mod points, this is one AC post that's really good.

Please. It's fashionable to hate Apple. How dare you try to use logic and reason?
The day they showed they lost - that blog post complaining about webkit-* for mobiles.

Please do not try to make sense here. We're in the middle of a good bit of Apple hatin' and making sense is just senseless.
Reading the rest of his comments, he obviously has a hardon for Apple.

You can run it in parallels, vmware fusion or virtualbox.

He already stated that he has issues with Theo. That would explain his warped view of things.

Are you even aware of the article you are reading? OpenBSD is forking OpenSSL and calling it LibreSSL.
OpenBSD is responsible for LibreSSL. Which will be in base for OpenBSD 5.6
I don't see that as damning at all. I see that as a great leader.
Just like how openssh is unusable on Linux, other BSDs, embedded platforms, windows, and so on, right?
And you do realize that by them forking the code, *THEY ARE NOW THE UPSTREAM* for this?
Wow. What a moron. No wonder you had to post as AC.
We're talking about OpenBSD, not BSD. Not Linux.
They're not the same.
