There should be a fuse from the electrical leads to the x-ray emitter that will burn out when radiation approaches DO NOT EXCEED levels. Next to the fuse should be a label in multiple languages stating: "If this fuse burns out, radiation levels exceeding maximum thresholds. Do not replace, call manufacturer."

This way - if someone keeps burning out fuses, and keeps replacing them anyway, they're responsible for overdoses of radiation. I don't understand why this is still controllable by software. Therac-25 should've been beaten into enough brains by now. Then again - I'm not a designer of this equipment, so maybe they have some good reason for this .... *shrug*

    Gain doesn't necessarily mean power.

    From wikipedia:

"For example, an FM radio station which advertises that it has 100,000 watts of power actually has 100,000 watts ERP, and probably not an actual 100,000-watt transmitter. The TPO of such a station typically may be 10,000 to 20,000 watts, with a gain factor of 5 to 10 (5Ã-- to 10Ã--). In most antenna designs, gain is realized primarily by concentrating power toward the horizon and suppressing it at upward and downward angles. The distribution of power versus elevation angle is known as the vertical pattern. When an antenna is also directional horizontally, gain and ERP will vary with azimuth. The maximum ERP is usually quoted."

Patent trolling consists of getting something patented, not doing anything at all with said patent, waiting for a major corporation to infringe, and then sue. Microsoft was well aware of i4i and blatantly infringed on the patent. i4i didn't wait some unreasonable amount of time before taking Microsoft to court on this subject.
