People stereotype engineers and computer scientist as poor communicators. We commonly are not very proficient writers because the majority of our skills revolve around our analytical abilities. This is yet another classic example of grammar mistakes in a Slashdot post. I know that this site is most a casual thing, but let's try a little harder to do away with the stereotype.
"I have able to find" Should have been: "I have been able to find"
This may have increased the possibilities of using 802.11b. But besides cost why not just go all out with 802.11a and enjoy the 100mbps. It may be an alternative but it's still not quite as fast.
I had something somewhat related happen to me. I transfered money from my normal back account to my paypal account. The money was deducted Friday and wasn't deposited into my paypal account until Monday. I was unable to access my money all weekend. I tried to make a charge on my paypal card and it was denied so I assumed the money had yet to be transfered. I was wrong and by using my card from my other back account generated $88 in NSF charges. Sucky:(
This is a veru good point. Once the source code is out we can no longer make claims that Linux is better due to the avalibility of source. Releasing the source will only strengthen thier share of the market. Not all but some developers might switch to windows coding after source is freely avalible as it would give them more control.
