Seems like all the artists on the list are on "major" labels, like Sony, Columbia, Universal, etc. I don't see any bands on smaller labels, that are run by people that have been in bands or are still in bands. Labels like this would include Epitaph, and Fat Wrechords, and contain bands that you probably have heard of, though they are not huge and mainstream, bands like Bad Religion, Pennywise, NOFX, and Less Than Jake. They (the bands) may not have the marketing arm of the bigger labels behind them, but they make a living, and don't have to sell their souls to make their music.
I would think maybe one of the artists off the site would start their own label, call it "Jaded" or something, and help give a home to those other artists who are on major labels, but are all pissed off at the label.
Could they put a detector in the car that tells the cops to bring a change of underwear for little kids on those too-long trips where they just can't hold it anymore?
Where does it say it's gonna be the last of a series? It's pretty obviously referring to "The Last Vampire", meaning like, no more vampires except for this guy in the movie. Kinda like "Last man standing" would refer to the person left alive, not that it's the last movie about a standing man.
He praises seanbaby.com for being unique, then prays for a 1000 other sites "just like it." what a way with words...
I think that just having more people willing to be open and express their own opinion would be better. Or at least the good sense to not believe everything the media says, but to think for themselves.
I found Donnerjack to be one of my favorite Zelazny novels, after the Amber series. He tackles some pretty crazy technological material, and also displays some of the humor from A Night in the Lonesome October. I definitely recommend picking up this novel, and giving it a good read.
From what I hear, these people just deface websites. How is that Robin Hood politics? There isn't any taking from the rich, giving to the poor. Just some vandalism. No one really benefits (except for the cracker, who can say that he defaced the web site).
Let's take Java, C++, Prolog, Scheme,Perl, Delphi, and the rest, and put them all into one language and call it Screw++. Then we won't have any fights on which language to use. You can use anyone you want in the same environment.
They examine the amplitude of the songs to determine the "type" of the music. That can work for music with big differences, like jazz and heavy-metal, but to distinguish between different types of rock is near impossible right now. Songs that don't fit into the genre are probably not easy to identify either.
I'm surprised that it's taken scientists so long to even look at the amplitude..that's always been a quick way to learn things about a song from it's waveform.
This is the part of the Napster argument that everyone always misses. I hear a lot of "Screw Metallica, they don't need the money." But what about the unsigned artists that really do need the money? In this case, the bands LP getting placed on Napster steals a large percentage of potential sales away from that band. Also, album sales do more than just line the pockets of the RIAA. An album selling many copies will cause the artist to get more money for a tour from their label, and thus really make the artist some money. That's why it's stupid to boycott the RIAA, when you can hurt the artists you listen to. Mp3 samples or even whole single songs can be cool to get someone interested in the album, but just pirating the albums and saying "I'll buy it later" just isn't right. Peace
I just recently bought one at a CompUSA by me. About $49 US. Pretty nifty, i think. I found I liked it better than the MS Intellimouse, since the buttons on the Intellimouse would click when my fingers rested on them, where the Logitech mouse required normal pressure, eliminating errant mouse clicks.
Not true, I've seen many games reviewed badly in PC Gamer. If a game sucks, they aren't afraid to say it. They ARE one of the bigger mags, though, so they might just not care about what a company thinks.
He just played some Barry White, and she jumped Mr. T!
Whoo hoo! Down with Michigan!
I want this stuff for my Slip & Slide!!!

Many cell phones are down in the NY-NJ area since the WTC was the transmitter/receiver for many of them.
Also, cell phone service in DC area has been shut down due to the fear of cell phone activated bombs.
Trying to help keep a heads up in this grim situation.

That way you can blame any bugs on those "damn open source programmers that keep screwing with the source tree."
