  1. Insertion of large text objects on Open Source Databases Revisited · · Score: 2

After having used MySQL for quite a while I played with Postgresql and was quite impressed. I noticed, though, that it would not understand insertion of large text object data within an sql INSERT command as opposed to MySQL. I can't find comments about this anywhere... Does anybody know if it is something you wouldn't (shouldn't) do for some reason? Or is it another limitation of Postgresql?

  2. Re:Is there a future for Netscape? Of course! on Netscape 6.0 Released · · Score: 1

What you are seeing with the redraw problems is almost certainly a display driver problem.

Correct, moderate this up... The problem is that IE tends to use the latest Windows features (which are not necessarely documented) and thus may be "better" than other software modules on your system.

On the other hand, my Netscape 4.72 on Redhat just crashed again when I tried to post this the first time... oh well.

  3. Re:ICANN sucks on ICANN Meetings · · Score: 1
And the suprising thing is, it seemed to work! People lapped it all up without realising the utter futility of the entire process.

People who do care have spoken up and still do. Most people just don't care, though. As usual. Anyway, I can't find this surprising: ICANN very well follows business and US government agenda and even pretends to be somewhat democratic to satisfy a liberal public.

Unfortunately ICANN represents the worst excesses of the American corporate replublic, in that it puts business ahead of consumers. Quite frankly, ICANN sucks.

Unfortunately the truth is very well expressed here.

  4. Europe: Radical Democratic wins on ICANN At-Large Results · · Score: 3

What is interesting about Europe is that we elected a radical democratic with many many more votes before the first commercial representative (from German Telekom, nearly 6000 vs. 990). Andy Müller-Maghun may indeed have a chance to influence ICANNs work in a positive, read: non-restrictive, for free flow of information, way. Let's see if "they" (read: commercial intrests) give him a chance and if he has the power to meet theese high expectations.

  5. Big Blue on Amazon Refunding The Overcharge Experiment · · Score: 1

The Big Blue - a great film, I would have ordered, too. Wait, it will only be a good experience to watch on a large screen in cinema, I wouldn't. So the poster must have a large screen at home... so she/he must have the money... so, the "price test" actually worked, don't believe the "random" thing, Amazon know what they do!
