  1. Yeast produced phenols/taste vary with conditions on Designing DNA Circuits To Brew Tastier Beer · · Score: 1

Advanced brewers are very keen to how yeast behave at varying conditions such as temperature ( most specially ), pressure and rate of yeast in brewing substance ( pitching rate ). You can with the same yeast produce varying amounts of "smells" and tastes by varying the above conditions.

To get very clean tasting beers you really want to pick the appropriate yeast and ferment it at the temperature that is optimal for it. So the concept of a yeast that can be designed to produce a certain characteristic smell/taste already exists. There are dozes and dozens of available yeast types by the big yeast manufactures already and they all behave differently if you "stress them", under pitch them to the brewing liquid, ferment under pressure, etc. Producing different results each time.

The secret to being a good brewer is knowing what each of these variables to do get the specific floculation, attenuation, taste and phenols that you are looking for.

For anyone interestest I hightly recommend The Complete Joy of Homebrewing and Brewing Classic Styles: 80 Winning Recipes Anyone Can Brew for you to get started on brewing great beers.

I have to say that after I started working helping to open a new restaurant for my family (parents) and done software development only on side (mostly console based apps for restaurant) and running around in general I have lost lots of weight! (200 lb -> 185lb)

You would think that working at a restaurant and have people ask you all the time what they can cook for you would make you fat, but not eating taco bell, bk, McD's and such have had a big impact.

I suppose the stress that comes with opening a new business along with having your family spending lots of money on a new large enterprise will help you loose weight too!

    The Scorpion and the Fox
A Retelling of an Ancient Middle Eastern Tale of Two Enemy Countries
    by Ms. Holly

Once long ago in the vast lands of the desert there was a great and vast river that had to be crossed for animals to seek food and water elsewhere in the desert. As it was on this day Fox had come to the point where it had to cross the river in its travels. As it stood contemplating the best way to cross the river safely Fox's life long enemy Scorpion came upon it and began to talk to Fox.

"Fox as I was walking along the river bank looking for food I noticed a particularily easy place to cross the river where the water is not so deep and not so swift. As it is I would like to cross over myself also but as I am so small it would be impossible. Would you be willing to take me across if I show you this place to cross the river?" asked Scorpion.

"Why should I take you across? How could I possibly trust you will not sting me on the way across as we have been life long enemies?" asked Fox.

"Why would I sting you? For if I stung you it would mean you would drown then both of us would die." replied Scorpion.

Fox thought this over for a bit while carefully watching Scorpion with a distrustful eye. Eventually Fox said, "Show me where the place is and I will take you across."

"First place me on your back and then I will show you. For otherwise you may jump in and leave me behind once I show you." replied Scorpion.

Fox thought this over for a bit while carefully watching Scorpion with a distrustful eye. Then walked over to Scorpion and allowed him to climb onto its back. Scorpion directed Fox to where the river was not so deep nor so swift such that it was a safer place to cross over. As Fox was swimming across the river and had reached the middle of the river Fox felt a sharp stinging sensation on its back and realized it had been stung by Scorpion. Fox cried out, "How could you sting me we shall both drown now?"

Scorpion replied, "It is better we should both perish than that my enemy should live."

You can still run wp in linux as long as you install the iBCS module and get a sco/other nix binary and run it. The problem with iBCS is that it broke from the main linux kernel circa version 2.2.x and has remained broken since.

There is some developement being made for cross binary compatibility but it just doesn't have the steam that it used to since most apps are simple recompilled for linux now.

If anyone can make iBCS work on a later kernel please email me!
