I'm working on a PostgreSQL backed system like this. I'm still at the design stage though, since I'm a shitty programmer and a shitty DBA. I've got a nifty table design that allows parent/child relationships of table elements to be determined by joining a table to itself. I originally intended it to be for managing inventory categories but it's generic enough that the same tables can be used for a todo list.
I had just started at a small recruiting shop and he was around in various unspecified capacities. We started talking one night and he was really excited about showing me how he owned sex.com. He did a whois, which had his name, then logged into the sex.com servers and poked around a little. He then bragged about the cashflow and the offers to buy from Playboy, Penthouse and Hustler.
He also asked all the secretaries to pose naked, used the company phones to call Nevada brothels for business advice and other shady activities.
I was later deposed as a witness for a sexual harassment case against the company because of his behavior (he was not an employee but rather an acquaintence of the owner) and the behavior of other sales people. The company's attorneys were in the process of searching for him at that time, which was around 2000 or 2001.
I can't wait for him to finally get caught. He reminds me of Robert Vesco; he's probably funding Al Queda or Russian prostitution rings or something now.
You are correct that Diablo Canyon exists and is nuclear and provides power. You missed the part about it being the reason why there are no more nuclear plants being built in the US. It was designed in the 60s to cost a few hundred million USD. Somewhere around the beginning of construction my father (a geologist) pointed out the existence of a nearby offshore fault to a PG&E engineer over dinner (or something like that). Combine that and the resulting litigation with some not so minor construction issues and you have a state of the art power plant that cost almost $10,000,000 in 1970's era dollars instead of. That killed nuclear power in California. It's never had a problem but the industry is never going to take that kind of financial risk again.
I used to work with Steve Cohen from time to time for a few months back in late 1995/early 1996. He must have just acquired sex.com at that time because he liked to show off the whois record to anyone who would pay attention. He claimed that he had picked up the name in the early 80s along with a bunch of other domain names that he thought would be worth something.
He claimed to be making $1000000/month at the time off sex.com (as of 2/1996). Of course that didn't explain why he was spending his time doing background checks for contract recruiters...
He represented himself at various times as a lawyer, a locksmith, a travel agent and a brothel owner (in Nevada).
Last I heard about him was a few months ago. I was testifying on behalf of the plaintiff in a sexual harassment suit against the company; Steve was one of the primary named perpetrators, except no one could locate him since he had transferred all his businesses to the Cayman Islands.
Sometimes it seems like I'm the only local here. I'd buy a house in a second, but, well, you know. I hope I can inherit one, since my dad is one of those guys who bought a house in Atherton for $180k, one in Woodside for $100k and one in Palo Alto for $30k. This is the movie I have been waiting for. It even has the back roads that I love and ride every day to work. I knew the place was going to go to hell when the local newscasts changed their taglines to "...from the best place on earth." The worst thing by far, besides the traffic, is it is literally impossible to exist in public places and not overhear a conversation about real estate or stock options. Maybe in a spanish speaking neighborhood you can pull it off. How do I deal with it? I live in the mountains, ride a motorcycle, use FreeBSD and work for M$. ;-) ha ha, only serious...

Don't hold your breath though, it's slow going.
[stupid title size limit]
Make the above: "I worked with Steve Cohen weeks after he stole sex.com"

OK I'm an idiot: I meant to say "$10,000,000,000 in 1970's era dollars".
