    True. And if the same place you sold the CD also sells new CDs, I imagine it a lot of people would either make impulse purchases or sell old CDs to fund buying new music.. exactly what the automakers do. So I guess I'm wrong :)

    Maybe the RIAA is shooting themselves in the foot with this (driving down used CD trade in values). Oh well, good for them.

    Detroit would never ask for money from used car sales, because used car sales increase the turnover rate on new cars.

    This is not generally true for used CDs -- my selling a CD does not provide motivation to replace it with another. Most people do not need to always have a CD.

    I've also had profs that would take a point off for each syntax error...

    I had an engineering professor that would 1 point off for every mistake on a dynamics problem. I thought this was ridiculous, since if you make 1 mistake like this 'in real life' the whole thing blows up.

    How is this different?

    If you're using an incremental design methodology on a test over material you should know cold, you probably don't deserve to do well on test anyways.

    The point of a test is not to judge your "real world skills" but how well you learned the specific material that the test covers.

    Just a simple thing as placing braces becomes a hurdle in writing unless you know the length of the code you need to put between them!

    That's why God invented indenting.

    Unless your professor is a complete asshole (hey, it happens), you should have plenty of time -- look at it this way, you'll spend a lot less time erasing then everyone else.

    Exploitation of foreign labor? What about exploitation of domestic labor? This is what happens when you hire only part time workers and refuse to give any benefits.     My problem isn't with the people driving them so much as the trucks themselves. My biggest annoyance as far as drivers is oblivious old women in their 300HP+ luxury cars doing 40 on the on-ramp.
