These comments are proof that the/. community won't even let/. itself be unfair or biased. We the community are reasonable people, and even though slashdot doesn't *usually* throw flamebait at us, we aren't blind when it does. This is a bigger issue than ms vs. linux. It proves that the people of slashdot are really the intellectuals and the driving force behind a lucid outlook on the world. In accordance, stories should likewise be able to be moderated, as suggested beforehand.
There was an article in Newsweek a just a couple weeks ago about this very topic. The same technolgy we use for peaceful means empowers terrorists, it says.

The Microsoft which attacked OS/2 like a rabid pit bull is not the same Microsoft today. All empires must fall. They will fight, but there's a strong user base to be reckoned with when considering strengths of Linux vs. OS/2. Although they will probably win in the consumer market, the back end (servers and such) is Linux's territory.
it's interesting to note how the people on those forums in general have noooo sympathy whatsoever for those affected... i can imagine that adds to the frustration...
so what does one do? start over? or is it a message to stop playing d2 and go outside? that's actually how i think when i lose some huge piece of work.

It's interesting to note how much wordage there is in these ads.. it seems like our attention spans today are on the short side, and we've been reduced to just specs and prices. i haven't seen nearly as much explanation of function in, let's say, a dell ad these days. has our attention span declined or has the average consumer gotten smarter?
