Well most people still view various distributions of Linux and other "free os's" as costing anywhere from $50-$100 at stores. If they don't know that they can download the whole thing over a modem, they're going to pay the $$ for it. If Linux is trully *free*(as in free beer) why is it not distributed like those god damn AOL disks?
Honestly, at one point I had 5 arcade machines(Street Fighter 2 enhanced, Rolling Thunder, Contra, Aliens, and Star Wars), and I would never even think about putting a crappy emu in a cab and pass it off as an arcade machine. With the growing number of Games coming slotted for Jamma cabinets, just shell out $30-$80 for a board per game. I just bought a Final Final Jamma board, which I swap in and out of my Simpsons Cab. Do yourself a favor: Buy an old Jamma Cabinet that needs some TLC(maybe $150 tops) and buy boards!
Boot into Windows 98 or NT and play UT, screw Q3A.
With Quake 3 making it impossible to be a sniper(gasp! But most people will read it as "camper") by removing any hiding places, Q3A to me, became stoping grounds for people who feel running around and mindlessly using a rocket launcher is good gaming. There is no finesse!! Whoopie I can circle strafe!! Try that in UT and I'll blow your head off. Besides, Q3A has no damage zones...If I shoot someone in the head it does the same damage as hitting them in foot...Id made an inferior game, but hey who cares if the game sucks, it runs on Linux!!! (is that the right attitude to have, or am I not following the advocacy HOWTO properly)
I was initially excited about the Athlons, but honestly, who cares if they can be overclocked or not!!! Why hasn't AMD developed support for a dual or even quad board??? Until they do so, I'll keep buying Intel, and I'll pit my Dual p3 600 machine against any overclocked Athlon any day.
This is a smart and predictable business move for IBM, maybe this will light a fire under Microsoft to release better a OS than slapping a new coat of paint on an old one once they realize they're some clientel to Linux. Ha! who am I kidding!
Jesus, who couldn't care less about this anouncement(certainly not just me). I've never seen the movie, nor do I really want to. I had a roomate that was really into anime, but all he kept watching was crap! I'd be trying to code and he'd be watching Record of Lodoss War(one of the dumbest anime flicks I've ever seen). Then he'd pull out the craptastic Ninja Scroll(ugh). Dragon Ball Z? Even the blast lines can't make this interesting.. All these companies releasing anime need to get on the Robotech bandwagon. I want Macross, and Robotech out on DVD. Star Blazers and some Voltron(the classic Voltron)would be pretty good too
Gotta go code now...Code is due in 2 days
Evan
Blast lines follow me in everything I do: "AAAAA....extreme coding!!!"

Anonymous is speaking the truth: "On the desktop front, Linux doesn't stand a chance in it's current form. It hasn't the mutlimedia features or the apps to make for a desktop"
I know I've tried to dress up my box into something simple...my mom(who can barely use Windows), has no idea what's going on with my Linux box
Until all you bad-ass coders and posers out there decide to stop creaming your pants over new distributions and GPL'd software, try making things simpler for the people you're actually trying to get to use Linux.(I know I am) In it's current form, Linux doesn't have a chance of taking over the desktop market in it's current incarnations and don't tell me that anyone with half a brain can't see that. Unless some alien species comes to Earth and kills everyone with a Windows box, leaving only Linux users
I'm content to use Linux in its current incarnations, but then again, I only use it as a server and just a general purpose thing. I keep NT4 on my good machine for my 3D model and media development and Windows application coding(which is my job too).
I need to get back to work, I have a code eval. in 2 hours, peace out!!
Does it really matter? Who can afford it?

ATI Radeon Released

All these numbers and features are great, but who actually has the cash to buy one of these new generation boards?
I just upgraded to a TNT card in my Dual p2 400 machine about 6 months ago, and put my old ATI 8mb Rage in my Linux box. Just curious, who actually intends on buying or has bought a new-gen card?
Ha Ha Ha...Here we go..."Give them a break there are at least 2 sequels coming up, you know"...Why should I? Everyone criticized Star Wars for not developing characters in 2 hours, I assume the same arguement doesn't hold for X-Men developing its core characters in 1.5 hours?? I know there is going to be more(I hope there will be, maybe one a year like a comic book). Aside from the little development we got with Rogue, Logan, Prof. X, and Magneto, there was no other development of substance.
By the way "In fact I wouldn't even call it an action movie at all" Um...unless you go by something different the movie studio classifies it as an action movie, why shouldn't you?
Also love the arguement "the characters just don't know how to fly yet. Give them a break, there are at least 2 sequels coming up, you know. " HAHAHA! These are powers they had from the beginning!!!(Rogue didn't as pointed out)
As for intelligence of plot? It was pretty much cookie cutter comic book fare. If you can't see that go rent something with more depth, The Punisher or Captain America perhaps:)
I've been reading X-Men, Iron Man, Punisher, etc. Since the mid 80's....(I wish cloak and dagger would make a comeback) "Dressed to not impress. (she wore loose clothes or spandex with a sweater or jacket over it.)" Are you kidding!?!? I always thought that wearing the jacket over the Spandex was even sexier than just wearing the spandex alone. You must be smoking something real good to think that "FRUMPY Rogue = GOOD" -Evan Aside: I missed a few years in the comics...I noticed someone in another post said that Human Torch was at the Xavier School...Unless I'm mistaken Fantastic 4 never really crossed over with X-Men??? If I'm incorrect, resist the urge to flame, I stopped reading comics in 1994, and I honestly can't remember storylines(Except for cool ones like the Secret Wars.
X-Men is like Chinese food. Fills you for an hour or so, then you're hungry for more. I was not impressed with the lame special effects, nor was I happy with the exclusion of powers of the X-Men... Wolverine: The claws don't come from inbetween his fingers!! Rogue, Storm, Jean Grey ALL know how to fly!!! But what REALLY pissed me off was Rogue wasn't HOT!! They turned her into a frumpy, ugly little girl...Rogue is supposed to be GOOD Looking!!! What should have been a decent movie, got raped into a lame action flick. Peace, Evan-Xun
