    Also when you factor in (snigger) Office and the other popular Microsoft software you have much more than the published Win32 API involved.

    Yes, I agree completely about bottom-up vs top-down security, but if we look at httpd use in IPCop it's only accessible internally (on a separate physical network connection - so it cannot be spoofed).

    Consider it like Mandrake when it was just a Redhat ripoff. Of course they haven't got a release that's different yet. This is to be expected. Try the betas and you'll see something better and distinct from Smoothwall.

    Dude, obviously you don't have adequate UPS support if the device does something when the power goes out. It is possible to get a better UPS that will flick over and back quick enough for all hardware not to notice.

    Microsoft don't make a version of Windows for many languages (ie., Catalan). This is inspite of the free market. In general I agree with you, everyone's replaceable, but the loss still hits hard.
