After seeing so many posts on the preemptible patch being including into Linus' tree,
I would have thought that everyone would be dying to try the first dev release with it incoporated. Give it test drive and see if that is really a useful feature.
Or does everyone here REALLY run Win XP ??
I would figure that the copy protection was licensed to grant WineX the ability to play those Windows games that are protected with safedisk. Many windows games are protected with Safedisk and won't work at all if your hardware and software doesn't support safedisk. This is mostly transparent with new CD drives and Windows but will certainly have to be considered under linux. In any case the intellectual property of game developers should be protected (even) under linux.
You can't blame them for trying. I personally hope and figure it'll fail, but life would be pretty DARNED boring if the bad guys gave up too easily. In any case the artists do have some rights, right ? Hopefully everyone will get theirs. Till then I wish my.edu will release the NAPSTER ports, Scour will AUTOMAGICALLY be reborn and Gnutella RETURN a positive search reponse....
Someone pray for me....
Live long and prosper !
Its not about the current userbase, instead its all about the PROJECTED usrbase. BSDs like FreeBSD are are making strides just as linux is. Plus with linux compatability it is certainly is a good OS. And fom having used it somewhat I can definately say it has desktop funtionality and is not just for servers.
But what hell is a SLICE ?
Strengh and honour !
