    OS as in the hypervisor everything runs ins. Java ME is to featurephones what Dalvik is to Android phones.

    "could" and "could not" are not equal, but "I could care less" has acquired the same meaning as "I couldn't care less". I'm not the one making this up, so no need to start insulting me. If it makes you feel better, I think it's stupid, too.

    "I could care less" means the same as "I couldn't care less". Language isn't always logically defined, unfortunately.

    Mining the place is illegal. Attacking any ship going through the strait is an act of war. There's nothing that can be said against defending yourself if attacked. Sure, they may try some strong words, but do you seriously think they'd be unhappy with the situation?

    It's not like North Korea invaded South Korea or anything. Vietnam was ugly, I agree with you, and so was Iraq. But Korea was different.

    Let's not forget the USAF's many strike aircraft for big targets - B2s for highly sensitive stuff, F-15Es or F-16s to take out a small base, B-52s and A-10s to completely mindfuck armored divisions. The predators are there to patrol. If needed, sorties can be dispatched from a carrier or strike aircraft loitering over the area can be dispatched.

    If the US backs down, which is extremely unlikely, someone else would take matters into their own hands. Besides, it wouldn't be politically embarassing if they're attacked while escorting a tanker. It'd be an act of war from Iran.

    Carpets bombs are old-fashioned. They'd keep predators over the area, waiting for any speedboats to leave shore. Then, it's a matter of launching ordnance.

    If they did as much a firing at a US warship, the next day they'd be visited by their friends, the B2s, followed by carrier aircraft, maybe F-22s for air superiority (if not, then F-15s), which all pave the way for B-52s. In short, their armed forces would be gone in a few days.

    Security through obscurity is not security. Vulnerability-wise, Windows tends to fare better. And whatever it is that they advertise exactly, if Mac OS starts getting more malware per installation than Windows, it's false advertising.

    Also, I never said "All Apple fanbois say that." I did say that whoever says "Apple computers are immune to malware." is an Apple fanboy

    Apple fanbois say that. Nobody else does. Hey, it's actually ground for a class-action suit, since they advertise them as "virus-resistant"! Let's all buy Macs en masse and hire some shady russian coders to create a virus for OSX. In the end, we still won't have abused the legal system as much as Apple does.

    Radioactive decay implies normal decay. Fission implies a chain reaction. And passive cooling can only cope with the residual heat from decay, not from the chain reaction, which is easily halted (control rods).

    It's traditional because Nimitz was important for the navy, not because it's called "Nimitz".

    Yeah, they can make slight changes to the steam pressure, but you can't operate them at levels low enough for UAVs, from what I've heard. It must be a design issue in their particular design rather than an issue with the concept of a steam catapult for large airplanes, though.

    Also more efficient. I think they're around 20% efficient, compared to steam catapults that only manage ~2% efficiency. They're also far easier to control: You can have a controlled acceleration instead of a huge acceleration that quickly drops, launch smaller, lighter stuff (a steam catapult won't work at "half power", so if you tried to launch an UAV, it would be ripped apart by the catapult operating at full power). Of course, the coolness of any object is automatically improved by adding magnets, so you get that added bonus.

    Too bad their names are getting less and less bad-ass... Nimitz's a traditional name... So is Enterprise... President's names don't make very good aircraft carrier names in my opinion. By the way, I heard there's a petition to rename the second Gerald Ford-class carrier "Enterprise", since the old one (CVN-65) is supposed to be decommissioned by whenever the new one is finished. Anyone got any details?
