  1. Re:sigh on Microsoft Should Abandon Vista? · · Score: 1

I gotta agree with you. Yes it is more bloated, and there is a performance hit on my current hardware when compared with XP.. but the same thing happened when XP was rolled out, people screamed "2000 is faster! it's leaner! xp is just more useless features!" today, the same thing is happening. as others have said, once SP1 hits, many of the bugs and issues currently facing vista will be dealt with. I've been using vista since last december, and I've had zero issues with it. hell.. I'm even using vista to write apps in legacy VB6 with no issues.

all the software I use on a regular basis works just fine under vista, the worst I've encountered is an application that doesn't support aero, in which case vista happily switches over to basic, and then back to aero once the application has terminated.

vista's not that bad people. when xp first came out, I encountered many more issues. vista will mature, and it will get better.

lesson learned.. don't use UPS for cross border shipping. stick to usps if you can (though i understand this isn't always possible). I've gotten raped by UPS brokerage fees before when ordering stuff stateside to ship up to toronto before.

  5. Re:Great.. on New ASUS Drivers Help Cheaters? · · Score: 1

nevermind performance.. asus is gonna loose alot of respect over this issue. Gamers dont' want to have to worry about playing against cheaters.. If any of these features prove to give the player an advantage then it will suck for the rest of us who are trying to play an honest game. However, I don't think playing in wireframe mode would have any advantages.. consider the number of polys in today's games, it would look waay too cluttered and prolly prove to be way harder to play.. Imagine running around in a Q3 map of all wireframes trying to figure out where all the people are.. however that transparent mode might offer advantages to players. I just dont' htink it's a good move for asus. I mean saying "use our card and you can cheat at games!" is not a good marketing strategy in general. .sure it might help sell a few cards but anyone who's at all serious about gaming wouldn't go for it.
