LOL, I just read a 5 page story about a 72 hour meth binge, so when I read the title of this article, I read it as, "Bad Meth Causes Expolosion at CERN Collider"
Now that would be a great story... a bunch of scientists building a meth lab at a collider.
TextMate is a great purchase if you do anything with text.. I am not a programmer, I am a network engineer. I use it to do offline editing of config snippets. I love the "pipe text through unix command" feature... I love doing things like sorts and greps and have the output replace the selection or create a new document.
I also like that I can select a column of text and edit it all at once. That is very nice.. I edit alot of wiki pages and textmate is perfect for creating things like wikitables.
Great app, worth the price. If you are not a programmer but do edit text, this is the way to go.. I have tried bbedit many times over the years and never really liked it. I would rather use vi than bbedit.. textmate sold me though.
If I want to read spam, I will look in my email spam folder. I don't want my rss feeds to start filling up with garbage..
I think it is hilarious that all the people that are complaining about this crap "article" are getting modded off topic../, already out of my bookmark bar, nearly heading out of my rss news folder.. what happened/.
It was not even a good page about eSATA.. I am very interested in eSATA.. i have two external enclosures that have eSATA and USB2 connectors.. I was hoping for some good information on various expresscard and cardbus adapters (for two different computers), but instead find the article goes to a page on one manufactuers site.. no third party reviews of multiple products with reasons why one might be better than another.. sigh.
I used to read/. to get the interesting news. You know "News for nerds. Stuff that matters."
Why is this article news?/. has gone way downhill. I'm not trying to put out flamebait. I have excellent kharma. It just seems that any negative article about the iPhone makes it to the front page. To me.. this is not news. This is not interesting.. This is supposition about an unreleased product whose specifications are not completely fixed. Sure, apple has only just started preannouncing products.. so this is new territory to the "blogosphere", but come on... give me something interesting to read.
What is up with all the anti-iphone stories.. they seem a bit overblown. If this was digg, I would have to label it flamebait.. the previous story about the iphone as "wildly inaccurate"
I don't want this to sound like flamebait, because it represents my actual feelings.
The story this links to is just a typical anit-drm rant. Why is this tied to the iphone? because apple makes it? yeah, give me a real story.
Sure the dvd protection scheme has been cracked, but since it is technically against us law, the music company proably thinks they can use the law to go after people who rip the music to their ipod or whatever. Or else they will do something like, you can copy the file using WMP as long as you get a license to do that... whatever... they are foolish if they think it will save their profits.
It is a fracking beta. If it did not have any bugs, It would be: 1) a miracle, all software has bugs, 2) released final version.
/. acting like Weekly World News and less like a valid news source.

have not seen an interesting story on /. that I did not see on digg first. This is yet another /. story that is blown out of proportion. Have fun
