  1. How to organize it? on More Links And Reports On Terrorist Attacks · · Score: 1
There is litle known about what happened. But at first the attack seems to be low technologie. Blade to destroy two towers and the pentagon.

Every body assume attack comes from a very powerfull organization, but could it be organized by a very little group of people (a dozen may be). This people are working in airports and some are pilots, and they just hacked security airport ? What could be their motivations ?

Also, I lived in France for a few years a while back and can tell you that they, too, have issues with nonconformity. When I was there a young girl who was Muslim was disciplined at school for wearing a headscarf because it identified her as Muslim. Jewish boys at school are not permitted to wear yarmulkes - again because it identifies them religiously. Many of the French people who I spoke with about the girl's headscarf were astonished that anyone would take exception to her being disciplined - they genuninely felt that this rule was there to protect the secular character of the school.

I think you missunderstood this event, we think in France that the religion is personnal and that you should not force other people in your religion when you're in school (it's public school where 90% of the students are). So you're not allowed to show distintive sign of your religion when you're in school it includes headscarf, kipa, cross... In the same way you're not allowed to critic in public any religion when you're in school.

If tomorow we have to by your air beacause it will be polluate as well can we call it progress ?

Corporations will grow until they destroy the planet and the human kind only to be more profitable, there is no economic reason for a corporation to take care of non profitable things as hapyness or the future of our planet.

The inherant problem of hardware is the delay between modification, edit--> Compile --> test, is much more important than in software.
Today, with FPGA, we are able to do the cycle in less time but the testing of a hardware function is very time consuming

Simulation of the first second of a CPU running a software can last several DAYS (On high end computer). The project is not vapourous it's delayed...

I think it's a common assumption but it's not always true, if we don't care i think we'll learn that technologie is both the best and the worst thing.

Talk to elderer about the begining of radio (even if the comparaison is not fair due to the knowledge requirement to operate a radio) there is similarities. At first everybody was speaking on air (net) and it wasn't possible for governement to censor. But now HAM are really under pressure and can not use radio for something else than talking about radio (at least here in France).
Not enough cops you said, we will have enough sooner than we want.

  9. Re:Won't work on Amex to deploy Internet card with embedded chip · · Score: 1

Not really, cause the smart card incorporate public key algorithms (generally RSA) and secret key algorithms (DES or other). When you ask for a transaction there is a challenge to your card (you must at this momment enter your pin code). Your secret key is stored on the smart card and there is NO WAY to read it.
So you send only encrypted stuff on the web, and you can not easily fake it. The only way is to be able to crack DES in less time than duration of the transaction.

  10. You missed the point! on Feature:Obscurity as Security · · Score: 1

For a secret key crypto algorithm, as the name suggest there is a SECRET. It's NOT STO. One of the most famous algorithm in this category is DES wich is well publicized and cryptanalysed, this algorithm implied the secret key to be secret but you can have everything else even the S-BOX, and your are clueless.
I agree with 'carry all obscurity in the key'. But this is better than carry obscurity everywhere. For my house i prefer to have to take care for the key and not for the key AND the door.

When you say to illustrate your talk: "When the tripwire is probed with a SYN packet from a cracker trying to locate the web server, instantly the system goes to full alert. The packet is logged and the admin's pager sounds like an alarm."
It's not STO it may be well know from the attacker without allowing him to bypass this trap.

Your exemple about digital signature is only a way to demonstrate that you have a weak protocol to verify public key. RE-read applied crypto!

Abscence of secret is imposible, but it's different from obscurity.
