  1. Re:If only... on Can Open Source Save Hardware? · · Score: 1

It would be possible, but how do you interprent Open Source Hardware ? If we consider this as being freely available schematics of the hardware or as freely and publicly available technical information ?

If we talking about technical information then every vendor selling hardware and having GPL'd or BSD'd drivers could be considered an Opensource hardware vendor.

Freely technical schematics is something I only saw with old and no more supported hardware. Hopefully some more hardware manufactures will do open schematics when they still support the hardware. However with the more stressing hardware based copyright protections I think this situation will never be available.

  8. abfab on Spam Doesn't Work? · · Score: 1

The Netherlands has just been declared Spam Heaven. As recently abfab won the appeal it made on the case they lost from XS4ALL concerning spam.

Initially XS4ALL won the case with a sum of 50EUR to each spammail a client of XS4ALL would receive from abfab. Abfab appealed and WON this time.

This is bad news, i'm not sure what my mailbox will get in the near future.

Luckily all kinds of actions against abfab have been started. For example http://www.dsinet.org/?did=1116 (dutch)

  9. Lots off in .nl on Campzone 2: The Return · · Score: 1

The Netherlands have a lot of these outdoor events and other huge-bandwidth lanparty's.

Outdoor events include Megabit, Campzone, NE2000, WAN and ofcourse HAL2001/HIP1997 (and so)

We had Takeover last year with Gigabit Internet Connectivity (which had about 350 mbit of traffic on it).

So if you truly want to have some fun come on to .nl ;)
