Growing up my first ISP was SoVerNet https://corp.sover.net/site/, at the time it stood for "Southern Vermont Internet", the area they covered. Later on they changed it to "Vermont's Sovereign Internet Connection". I think at this point they've given up trying to apply meaning to it and it is just a name =]
So, using your purpose or mission as a starting point may be a better strategy than pigeon holing yourself with geography.
Correct, but on a technicality. The wiretap seems to have been done by the Pakistanis. From TFA:
"A senior Pakistani security official told The Associated Press that Rauf's arrest prompted an accomplice in the southern city of Karachi to make a panicked phone call to a suspect in Britain, giving the green light for the airliner plot to move forward urgently.
"This telephone call intercept in Karachi and the arrest of Rashid Rauf helped a lot to foil the terror plan," the official said.
A second intelligence official, who described the accomplice as "inexperienced," also said the caller "alerted his associates about the arrest of Rashid Rauf, and asked them to go ahead.""
Sorry I missed that! No wonder Reference.com didn't list that definition, it's not a widely accepted one. Thanks for pointing the link out to me, interesting stuff.
Sure they do, just look at most of the major expo's/conventions. The difference is they just don't mention it and it's "everything besides alternatives to M$";-)
I'm a Libertarian, but not an Objectivist. While I like Ms. Rand's fiction greatly, her philosophy is a little too radical even for me. I like to describe Libertarinism as the closest you can get to anarchy and still function well. I put Objectivism between Libertarianism and Anarchism;-)
In addition to his comments about it being the first computer to come standard with optical mice, Jobs also states, "first personal computers in history to come standard with dual processors," appearantly conviently forgetting about teh original BeBox. Looks like Apple still hates Be.:-/
The USB hard driv eidea is a good one, but can one boot off a USB HDD? If not I'd still want an IDE drive. The point of putting in a HDD is to make the machine more versatile. (i.e. say the OS on a CD uses KDE, bu tI want to use E, or I want to add more apps, etc.)
The solution to problem of games with large manuals is really quite simple. Use the same height and width for all the boxes/cases, but for those with thick manuals double or triple the depth. This way all the boxes/cases have the same mindshare and can use all the bins interchangably. With a triple width DVD size case you could fit a fairly hefty manual + disc with no problem. Just my two copper.
umm, the only way to be sure of where you are going when you follow a link is to view the source, otherwise the URL could be misrepresented in tthe status bar via javascript, while *appearing* to be "good" URL.
This takes us to the crux of the argument, which is whether there can be sufficient motivation for IP creation without IP protection.
Let us not forget those of us who create for the sake of creating. On my webpage for example, I have posted many of my writings and poetry. I didn't write them to make money, I wrote them because I had something to say. Anyone can downlaod and print them out. In fact, bascially the only restrictions I have are that I be given credit for them and that my permission is necessary for commerical use. The motivation for all IP is not money.
Nothing wrong with long articles, sometimes verboseness is necessary for effective communication of the ideas on is trying to get across.;-) Also, I don't know why everyone gets down on Katz so much. Granted I myself don't always agree with him, but he almost always comes with an interesting perspective .

Actually http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=ABILENE+& db=* only lists proper nouns as definitions. Do you have a source for your definition?

These NIC's may very well be cool...if you can hack it to accept a hard drive. Has anyone tried this yet??

Actually, this story broke serveral days ago on OpenBSD Journal. You merely assumed "this is the first publisized information about it".
