  1. Umm, player guitar? on Guitarists, your Days are Numbered · · Score: 1

There have been player pianos for 100 years. I'm glad the we are one step closer to the player four piece ensemble. Make the player vocal chord, then I'll be impressed (no, I don't mean a speaker).

  2. Playing buddies with Microsoft on First Look at Apple's Intel Developer Macs · · Score: 1

There really is no application for work that you need, outside of office, that doesn't have some type of replacement on Mac. Eclipse runs fine on a Mac. So, if I was Apple and decided to make the switch to Intel hardware to go head to head with Microsoft once and for all, I would probably pretend that I was going to closely hold the idea that I still want to control the computers. This way Microsoft is kept happy and will develop office for the new platform more readily. Once they are done a version for the new Mac, then go into overdrive developing drivers for the new Mac and the war is on, with the critical app already developed.

  3. Re:So what now? on Inquiry Into RIAA's Piracy Crackdown Tactics · · Score: 1

I'd say the fact is getting rid of copyright laws is a big old red shift. I suppose that it hasn't crossed your mind that giving away intellectual property is a bad idea because it slows progress. I think that they tried this strategy in Russia. Also, go read Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged', I believe that she would call most of the posters here looters. Those recordings weren't made through any action of yours, and you think they should be free. I hope someone helps themself to your wallet or car.

  4. Re:One man's unreadable is another man's one liner on Recommended C++ and Java Coding Standards? · · Score: 1

Oh. Cool. Yeah, sorry about that. I couldn't agree more.

  5. Re:why use it? on Preview the New Napster · · Score: 1

I think that the only way this will work is if the government would get off of there asses and prosecute some people. Why would you pay for something that you can have for free. At the same time, it would be good if they would crack down on the bazillion bootleggers on Canal street. Sorry, I'm a programmer, if my company doesn't get paid, I don't get paid. I like programming, but I also like getting paid. If I wanted to get paid direct, I could work for myself. Recording artists are no different, they like the comfort of the labels and I don't blaim them. They should be paid. Also, if you insist of trying to prevail with this whole no intelectual property idea, say good bye to biotech and your expected 100 year lifespans, who will bother without a profit?

  6. Re:One man's unreadable is another man's one liner on Recommended C++ and Java Coding Standards? · · Score: 1

A coding standard can pretty much make unreadable lame code into readable lame code.

The code is more maintainable, but slighty more time consuming to create.

A beautiful one liner is great, but if it takes someone else two minutes to figure out, that's a wasted two minutes, elegant or not.
