It's not about whether you can see source code or not.
It's about what you can do with it.
Currently, you can use Qt to write open source applications for X11 only and write bugfixes.
You can not port it (according to readme that comes with sources) to another platform, be it win32, beos, mac, or future systems like berlin. You have to rely that Trolltech will allow you to port your (GPLed) application to these systems.
Yes, I understand that Trolls want to make money. I don't object. But I want to run my applications on any platform in my sight. Qt may be technically superior (or may not, we will not discuss it here), but it does not allow run my programs on platforms other that *nix/X11 that I routinely use (e.g. at work).
encryption is the responsibility of the client. Information should be obscured at the earliest opportunity and not revealed until it is firmly in the hands of the target user.
True, however, this leaves some fields unencrypted, e.g. From:, To: and Subject:, leaving opportunity for traffic analysis. When SMTP services talk among themselves using SSL/TLS, these fields are encrypted too.
There is Explorer for Solaris. And for HPUX. And for Tru64. Have a look at Explorer download page. Hovewer, you'll love Netscape after installing Explorer...
It depends on screen resolution and dpi - try higher screen resolution and dpi (eg 1280x1024/120 dpi/17" monitor) and you'll see what is more readable.

Because MS runs it's business in Europe too. Or do you want to say that offices of European companies in US don't need to listen to US laws?
