  1. I can't wait on IDG and 'Trademark Dilution' For Dummies · · Score: 3

I'm waiting for their upcoming "...for Fucking Morons" series.

Moderate me down. I'm off-topic and using foul-language.

  2. Re:Cobalts not true Linux boxen. -- Huh? on Gateway to Sell Cobalt Systems · · Score: 2

Of course it's a real Linux box. You're complaining about the Redhat Package Manager not working? So what if it isn't a straight Redhat box. Linux is the kernel.

  3. Re:MODERATORS-Why was this marked down? on Prototype 150GByte Read-Only Disk Demonstrated · · Score: 1

It wasn't "Flamebait", that's for sure. But it's off-topic as is this post. Moderate me down!

  4. Re:Do or die, Netscape...do it on Netscape 4.7 Arrives on the Scene · · Score: 1

YES! Please Netscape, get your act together! I have no choice but to use Netscape's browser since my primary system is an SGI. Sure, I have lynx too, but most sites make it painful. Any other suggestions for me?

They're making Opera for Linux? At least that's some competition. Too bad Opera (at least the current version) is worse than Netscape. It's small and fast, but it stumbles and barfs on tables and JavaScript.

I've been avoiding IE on the PC, but I need a browser that works...and sorry Netscape. That's not you anymore.

Who would have thought I'd be installing Windows just for browsing? *sigh*

I would guess that Netcraft is hosed today, since any address you give it reports that same error message.

I quite enjoyed the way this guy referred to his "product" as a "commercial, proprietary Linux." Hmmm... Ok.

Why didn't he just link his download page to Mandrake's. It seems like that's the distro he's "selling" as his own.

  6. Re:Very bad for SGI -- I disagree on SGI to layoff ~ 3000 employees, sees 2Q profit (UPDATED) · · Score: 1

This is a good thing. It isn't as if they're laying these people off because they can't afford to pay them anymore. They're trimming the fat. This is something that needed to happen years ago.

I'll agree with you that this is going to be bad for morale, but so is several years of losing money. With several profitable quarters behind them now, any negative morale will most likely be offset with optimism for the future.

Or I could just be full of shit.

Good example, but Faust doesn't have to eat or make mortgage payments. I don't want this to get too off-topic, but these guys need to make a living.

  8. Re:books expensive? on Interview: Ask Tim O'Reilly · · Score: 1

Are you kidding me? I'd hardly consider $30-$40 expensive, especially considering the content. Unlike most of the technical books on the market, these are worth their weight in gold.
