I agree. Most IDEs do completion and will make it so that the students don't have to think. IDEs belong in later Software Engineering courses.
The only problem is that students who don't want to work can use the IDE at home and paste the solution into whereever they are required to do their work. I guess you'll always have those types.
I went nuts building toys that the toy companies hadn't made yet. I remember building the Phoenix from "Battle of the Planets" complete with detachable vehicles for each G-Force member. It was big and weighed a bit, but it was great fun.
It has happened to me also. So I make it a habit of printing the internet price and bringing it with me. I have never had an argument when I do this.
