"It also assumes scientists are the best judges as to whether society is sufficiently mature to use a given technology sanely."
Who gets to decide? In this kind of debate everyone has an agenda. The scientists obviously want their work to develop, and to see how far they can go. Those that are against it will probably never be convinced. Those that have no opinion cannot be convinced because it isn't a question of proving anything, It is merely opinion. The whole debate may come down to a gradual change in what people deem to be acceptable. In which case we may as well do it now in order to gain full advantage.
There was a piece in the news lately about a deal made between the WDA (Welsh Development Agency) and BT to provide ADSL to rural communities. Therefore small Welsh Towns are getting ADSL before some English cities. Maybe BT is hoping to increase revenue by making deals all over the UK.
Many countries have very different laws as far as copyright (http://www.platopress.co.uk/copyright/). How does this effect any prosecutions?
Doess the MPAA actually own 'everything' to do with CSS? Could a company that has nothing to do with the MPAA make a DVD (with CSS)?
Lastly did anyone see on CNN a story about a company that bought an oil rig (in international waters) to put servers on. Maybe it would be a good investment to some rich people.
Bye,
Murphy
Thanks for the Link. I know some people that might be interested. The up side is that it limits the number of people who'll 'play around' with my setup:-))
